fabio presents ... the 2020 US Election results thread.. Lounge forum edition

okay.... its tradition that i do this... i have done it for the last 2 elections.....

all that i ask is that a mod keep this thread in this forum for the next 24-36 hrs... because at least that way you can keep it all to one lounge thread..

I would also ask that if you are going to reply in this thread to keep the comments light....

we also use this as a US election "ask me anything".... so if you have questions or not understanding, hit me up here... i promise i'll be here till probably 3-4am

basically since it is going to be on all the different channels tonight, think of this as your cheat sheet so you know what to look out for... I promise to keep it at simple as possible....

winner needs to get to 270 electorial college votes, but really you only need to keep a true eye on 10 states...lets call these states "the trump 10!".. the 10 states the trump has to defend if he has a chance of winning again!

Biden will win the election if he wins any 3 from: Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, North Carolina , Iowa or Ohio

or......Florida and 1 of the above!

or......Texas! (aka the promised land of all democrats)

so.... we are likely to know what happens quickly if..... biden win Florida (midnight close), or Georgia (midnight), or Ohio or North Carolina (both 12.30am)

if biden wins any of those.. the election is likely done! if trump survives those 4....then we move onto Iowa (1am) Texas (1am) and Arizona (2am)... again you may get results quickly... again in reality trump will need to win them all!

if he gets this far.... go to bed!!!! nothing is likely to be decided tonight!

then we come to the blue wall... pennsylvania, michigan and wisconsin! michigan and wisconsin don't start counting mail in and early voting till AFTER polls close, some counties in pennsylvania won't start counting mail in till tomorrow morning!

michigan and wisconsin both say they are likely to have a result by wednesday night.... pennsylvania say they may not have a result till friday!

there is your cheat sheet.... play nice!!!

Its not running as a lot of polls predicted . Its going to be much closer .

My fear is a certain candidate will declare a win early or worse say that there is vote rigging going on. That will devide the US even more and cause protests .

I don't think we will have a clearer picture till at least thursday .

basically.... as of 5.45am everything has held serve.....

of the 10 i have mentioned.....

Trump holds Ohio, Florida and iowa Likely to hold Texas

Closer in North Carolina, trump leaning

georgia is a toss up!

looks like Arizona will be the first state going to flip to biden!! and looks like its going to win wisconsin and michigan....

Arizona, michigan and wisconsin gets biden to 269..... winner needs 270!

keep an eye on Nebraska... because they do there votes by district.... "nebraska 2" looks like it is leaning biden! that would get him the 1 vote he needs to get to 270!

basically Arizona win would give biden more paths to victory!

Thank you for the explanation, it has been difficult knowing what factors determine the election

There and to the left a bit

A lot closer than people would have thought/hoped - and it's not going to be without it's twists and turns in the hours, days, weeks ahead

Do you mean they haven't counted them yet or they have literally gone missing?

His smug face makes me feel sick.

I was shocked watching my first UK election how quickly it was all counted. I expect that the US is always more like Australia, slower to count.

Although the stuff being thrown around about electoral fraud/ voter suppression etc for awhile makes me nervous.

Trump has spent a lot of time stacking the high court with GOP-sympathetic judges, knowing that he was going to contest this election regardless.

What the American people really needed was a clear, decisive result to leave things in no doubt.

Not going to happen now...

Why is Trump so pissed off about postal votes? Surely people voting by post are just as likely to vote for either of them.

.

As far as I know postal voters more likely to be for democrats, for some reason, perhaps Fabio knows why this should be!

Trump voters struggle to read and write so much easier to turn up at the polling station and stick their "x" in the box without the confusion of having to use an envelope.

Joking aside... surely COVID has a lot to do with the postal vote? With Biden taking the sensible option of campaigning whilst adhering to distancing guidelines etc it would make sense that Democrats use the postal system more. Trump was more than happy to put the American population at risk by holding mass rallies and seems like his tactic was to get the Republicans out to the polling stations and while they're at it, try and disrupt anything Biden related (we've all seen the intimidation tactics from Trumpites when Biden was doing his canvassing.

Feel free to put me right Fabio if I'm spouting bollocks though
