Are Russia and China laughing at us?

I read a comment on another post so I’m curious that due to total disorganised incompetence in the U.K. and USA in the way we are being governed, are we slowly losing the ability to hold Russia and China to account. So basically handing them control on a plate?

I’m not just aiming this at Trump and Boris I’m aiming it all our political parties and MPs here and in the USA.

The vested interests of big business has always been an issue but it seems to be rampant now and the moral compass of our so called leaders is evaporating.

Can we actually do anything or are we just too late?

Russia undoubtedly influenced both the US GE and Brexit referendum and in both cases got exactly the results they wanted. I think their influences over the next US GE will be diminished but unfortunately the damage has been done for now with Brexit

It’s not just Russia and China.

The world has been laughing at us since we voted for Brexit, the utter incompetence of our government during Covid19 has only allowed them to laugh longer and harder.

Yes I agree re Brexit but I am concerned it’s even more of a basic problem than that.

I am seeing just self serving politicians in parliament and the lords Ona gravy train after a few years of leaning not to answer a a question.

What happend to doing good for your country which was the aim of most MP’s years ago I believe (no idea really) but it seems now what can I get out of this is the way they behave.

I wish a lot of us now had voted for Corbyn ( I’m not a labour voter normally)

Whilst yes I didn’t agree with a lot of his views I do agree the system is beginning to really stink and it needs to be balanced more for us all. Maybe hie would have been able to pull government back to being for the all people not just the elite.

Just for clarity, we don’t really trade with Russia (nothing worth having) and with China we buy from them & they buy little from us. In terms of tourists, not many from either at the moment or students.

China will of course be happy to sell to us & continue laughing...

Well, lets hope thats all they are doing, I am sure when wet-lettuce Raab threatens both of them during a typical week for their misdemenours, Putin who has already said he could wipe out the British army of an afternoon (2 million troops and probably best military hardware in the world), China, 2 million troops and same hardware plus techie know-how, (incidentally their trade is 10% up and stock markets there just topped 10.1 Trillion dollars),maybe co-vid is a biological weapon to bring down western economies and soften them up with confusion?

Seems like the whole world relies on China for goods whereas we excell in the "service industry!"-shortly to go down the pan

Still, not to worry, Im sure Russia, China and Iran (over half million troops) who have just completed joint military excercises are quite happy to see the back of Trump, who, at least tried to get Russia on-side, we have no worries though with Russia sending warships down the channel we can call on our EU allies, Germany etc-oh-but wait.......dammit!

Now, wheres my foil hat have you seen it?

I'm sure Russian are laughing at us. It seems v likely they've influenced Brexit and Trump's election at the very least. Possibly many more elections, too.

Wasn't there a thing called the Russia report once upon a time, as well? That report that eventually came out after being buried by Johnson for ages. Only to reveal we'd actively avoided looking into Russian influence and money in our political system, because we didn't want to find out how bad it all was.

Yes the Westeern style democracy does not work anymore as people do not respect the rule of law and authoritarian government works better.Western democracy is finished unless we realise this as you say it is not Trump or Boris the system is fucked.

Really??? Lol.

The whole of Europe is laughing at the U.K. and the clown we have as PM. It doesn’t mean they’re going to stop trading or coming here does it?

It might hurt brexiters like you but you lot have made this country be a laughing stock.

I can’t see the link between taking the piss at us and trading.

What a pathetic comment to be honest. We have lost the respect of a lot of countries. There’s more to life than trading but there always be some bellends to defend a lost cause.

They're not laughing at us - we're not funny enough; despite all our top comedians.

They're regarding the UK with the contempt it has done so much to deserve, over the past 30 years.

The Chinese, in particular, are very well aware the boot is now firmly on the other foot. The only country on the planet they need to pay any attention to, is the USA. The UK barely registers for them - especially since leaving the EU.

As for the Russians, our Tory friends are more than happy to launder their dirty money, for a percentage; so, no wonder Putin has nothing but disdain for their hollow, hypocritical bluster.

Both China and Russia are horrific - one is a police state, the other is a kleptocracy; and yet our country, a democracy (however flawed), with proper regard for the freedom and human rights of its own citizens (if few non-white others), is held in contempt by them.

Our government should lead by example and stop giving them legitimate grounds to accuse the UK of hypocrisy; but they won't. There's money to be made by being morally bankrupt.

To put it bluntly it seems to be like the Mexico situation here with Migrants in the southern states coming from south America and you are an insular country who didn't want people coming from Europe so voted to stop it.

Now the Europeans are not letting you have your way and you the same with them. Will it work who knows but its a big risk.

Until the U.K. left the EU it was in fact the worlds biggest trading block.

USA - 16.8 Trillion EUR

EU - 17.7Trillion. EUR ( Uk made up 2.4 Trillion EUR)

Figures correct as of 2017

But it’s ok we owe 2 Trillion so I’m sure they are not that worried about losing us as we were heading for a bailout.

We can concentrate on working out WTO tariffs to sell to the EU now and see if we can be totally broke as a challenge. We will be winners there. Oh no Greece were first so we will come second again .

Where are we getting any benefit from this bloody mess? I read in the last four years 10k nurses and health workers have gone back to Europe. So now if we get ill we won’t have enough trained staff to care for us. A government that keeps on giving.

I see today even the non tax paying anti immigration racist Sunday mail has gone after Hancock over late night drinking in Houses of Parliament.

30 times he’s been asked if he was drinking after 10pm and 30 times refused to answer.

If you google “is the EU the largest economy in the world” you will find your answer. It overtook the US again in 2019 to take top spot.

I asked the other day why exactly did we leave the eu?

I'm still waiting for an answer.

Because the leave vote got more than the remain vote.

Its quite simple to understand. "

Spectactually obtuse

"It’s not just Russia and China.

The world has been laughing at us since we voted for Brexit, the utter incompetence of our government during Covid19 has only allowed them to laugh longer and harder.

The Brexit thing we don't laugh at just scratch our heads and wonder what you want. Maybe you could get better deals with the US and your Commonwealth who being part of Europe stopped you doing its really hard to tell from the outside.

As members of the EU we were part of the world’s biggest economy, we negotiated with the likes of the US and China from a position of power, now we are desperate and are about to get royally screwed in every negotiation we enter.

Where do you get the EU as the biggest economy from?

Until the U.K. left the EU it was in fact the worlds biggest trading block.

USA - 16.8 Trillion EUR

EU - 17.7Trillion. EUR ( Uk made up 2.4 Trillion EUR)

Figures correct as of 2017

But it’s ok we owe 2 Trillion so I’m sure they are not that worried about losing us as we were heading for a bailout.

It’s not really a left problem, the right also have a problem.

Both sides have a problem with democracy in general

Both sides are there telling you what to think, how you should feel, and why you should feel it.

Both sides want to dictate, i’d think they would be happy if there there was no parliament, and they could do what they want.

To be perfectly honest, I trust my own judgement when I see incompetent people chatting crap.

And this is what those people who support either the left or the right have to get out of the habit of.
