As much as I deplore the obsession of the media with US politics, while disgracefully giving only scant attention to the EC, with which we were allegedly partners for the past few decades, I have found myself drawn daily to the latest instalments of the unreality show that is psycho toddler Trump.

Anyone else fascinated by this never-ending groundhog day car crash? Following it as news is dry, to tune in to Fox "News" would rot the brain, so I find the best medium is satire.

Stephen Colbert and Seth Myers deliver a witty commentary on the latest horrific, breathtaking actions and pronouncements of the gangster president, while Alex Baldwin's impersonation is pretty good and the camp cabaret style shows of Randy Rainbow are definitely worth catching. All on YouTube.

Any other recommendations, y'all?

Why are people in uk and Ireland so obsessed with what happens in America every time you pick up a paper or watch a news bulletin .its Trump did this trump said that .etc etc . We all know and knew before he was elected what he is like .the American people elected him .as boris and his gang were elected in uk .and this bunch has got back in with the help of their friends here in ireland .

UK... everyone out clapping the amazing health care workers .in nhs .yet the doctors and nurses are actually being charged large amounts of money just to park their cars in hospital car parks or walk long distances to spend long hours trying to save lives .here they are paying our health workers disgusting wages that they cannot live on ... hypocrisy is the word that comes to mind . Yes, I agree but only up to a point. We are completely obsessed with covering US news. Whenever there's a blizzard in New York or a shooting in the US, we get it served in our news. The same thing happening in another country would get a mention. No wonder, we've got a mini Trump as PM.

I suspect it's partly a language thing. So easy to have many correspondents in English speaking countries like the US to feed us this type of irrelevant and boring news than having somebody who covers non English speaking countries such as Southern American countries or European countries that could provide us with more relevant news.

The consequence of that is a complete lack of understanding and knowledge about our neighbours and their countries

That's why I like about Channel 4 News. They really focus on news around the world, not just in bloody US.
