"Have seen the video of the airplane, with its new paint job, taking off... Looks fantastic " Yep it's not as bad but plain (pardon the pun) for the cost id like to know how it cost £900,000 when a repaint for similar plane costs between £36,375 to £145,500 I wonder if it was a tory party donor who won the contract

"Nearly all other World leaders arrive in national liveried airplanes, so it’s not exactly a unique thing that U.K. has decided to also do this. The airplane was due a paint job so why not take the opportunity and do it better. The previous colour was grey and boring, not at all like how we should be viewed on the world stage. Now we arrive with flare and colour " Do you think it will help Boris negotiate a ‘great deal’ with the EU?

"Have seen the video of the airplane, with its new paint job, taking off... Looks fantastic Yep it's not as bad but plain (pardon the pun) for the cost id like to know how it cost £900,000 when a repaint for similar plane costs between £36,375 to £145,500 I wonder if it was a tory party donor who won the contract " As per usual the dodgy press limit the truth in order to divide & separate the nation. The plane had a £900,000 refit, the paint being a relatively small part of that sum. To give an idea price wise a friend works for a refit company & they just got the contract for four 727’s The contract is worth £6m so £900,000 for a refit is about ballpark. S

The flag is painted correctly as per protocol for aircraft tailfins. This design has gone through several design appraisals, been signed off and then painted as per the agreed specification.

"Have seen the video of the airplane, with its new paint job, taking off... Looks fantastic Yep it's not as bad but plain (pardon the pun) for the cost id like to know how it cost £900,000 when a repaint for similar plane costs between £36,375 to £145,500 I wonder if it was a tory party donor who won the contract As per usual the dodgy press limit the truth in order to divide & separate the nation. The plane had a £900,000 refit, the paint being a relatively small part of that sum. To give an idea price wise a friend works for a refit company & they just got the contract for four 727’s The contract is worth £6m so £900,000 for a refit is about ballpark. S " This is from the UK Defence Journal (not the "dodgy press") with a quote directly from the Prime Minister's office: 'UK Defence Journal Home Air Voyager transport jet to be repainted in Union flag colours Voyager transport jet to be repainted in Union flag colours By George Allison - June 17, 2020 The Voyager transport aircraft, tasked with flying senior ministers to global events and summits, will be repainted at a cost of £900,000. The Voyager aircraft in question had been been refitted at a cost of about £10m in 2016, in order to save about £775,000 per year as a dedicated aircraft is typically cheaper than chartering flights. The Prime Minister’s spokesman said of the decision to repaint the jet from its standard grey: “The £900,000 cost incorporates the cost of creating a design that will promote the UK around the world without compromising the plane’s vital military role. Voyager can better represent the UK around the world with national branding. All of the work has been done in the UK.”' The Prime Minister's spokesman appears to think that £900,000 was spent on the paint job. What's your source? What is the actual purpose of this exercise? We have so little confidence on the world stage now that we have to dress up in bright colours to get attention? This aircraft apparently retains its ability as an inflight refueller. Is the intention that if necessary this aircraft will enter combat operations as it is? Will it perhaps need to be resprayed? Grey maybe? Does this not reduce the combat readiness of an expensive military asset for a political marketing decision?

"Are you going to wet your panties over Macron's or Merkel's jets? Are you going to jibe Macaron for having a jet that looks like an Airfrance liner? One that doesn't retain dual purpose... Are you just boringly anti British success as usual? You want us to shrivel up and die because of Brexit. Then go back, cap in hand asking for crumbs from the table. Seriously, get a grip. This aircraft is salt to your snowflake." Of course he won't it's only the UK he is against wouldn't have heard a peep if we were still in the EU and it was a EU flag

I find it staggering that people who voted remain are 'anti British'. You are in favour of Brexit, the Brexit that will definitely lose British jobs and shrink our economy and somehow you portray yourself as patriotic. It's laughable. S and yet they have still managed to get the flag upside down so it's a permanent distress signal rather apt at the moment The flag is correct. You confusing the tail designation with a flag an a flag pole with the wind blowing left to right as the Union Jack is normally depicted." Blows right to left if you stand on the other side Red component for red saltire of ireland should be lower in the white saltire for Scotland at the pole side. And I still think its a waste. Mentioned. I agree a paint job but splurging that much when there's so much wrong in this country, poverty and a breakdown in looking after those in society caused by political ideology driven decisions and people on here being suckered in by populist politics

Do you think painting an airliner grey makes it invisible to missiles or defensive radar installations?" This is absolutely the worst "argument" that you've ever attempted to make. Military paint schemes are grey for visual camouflage. Grey significantly reduces contrast relative to deliberately high visibility red white and blue. Their chemical composition and dull surface finish is radar absorbent to reduce its signature to missiles and radar installations. You knew this but wrote what you did anyway, just to argue

This aircraft is salt to your snowflake." My taxes don't pay for them. I see no benefit in spending £900,000 to brightly paint a low visibility aircraft with a previously dual military use. What's the purpose of the exercise?

Why do you hate your country soo much?! It's laughable! " You are laughable. Rambling on about "anti-British" whenever anything inconvenient is pointed out. The wings were designed and built in the UK with a high proportion of EU and other foreign technicians and engineers. It cuts both ways. It's interdependent. Airbus is a trans European company. Not British. That's not a problem if you are capable of seeing success within a larger group as a success. The alternative is no aircraft manufacturing capability. Not even wings. You think that we will just build and design them for whoever wants them? Explain how painting a plane in bright colours improves anything? Is this an even vague priority? Doesn't it just look like the Prime Minister spending money on a toy for himself?

You would have heard outrage about an EU painted jet from almost everyone. From me and certainly from you and your Brexity chums. You do make me laugh How is painting an aeroplane a "British success"?

S This is from the UK Defence Journal (not the "dodgy press") with a quote directly from the Prime Minister's office: 'UK Defence Journal Home Air Voyager transport jet to be repainted in Union flag colours Voyager transport jet to be repainted in Union flag colours By George Allison - June 17, 2020 The Voyager transport aircraft, tasked with flying senior ministers to global events and summits, will be repainted at a cost of £900,000. Would you rather our leader's travelled the world, visiting capital cities etc in a military colour scheme jet?! Would you like them to carry small arms just to show "we mean business"... should we have bought a brand new aircraft for this purpose? A shiny new Boeing? Maybe you'd prefer Boris traveled in a black cab, is that what you want? What do you doom mongers want? Do you want us to throw our arms into the air saying how sorry we are for being British! And we should know our place? Why do you want us to fail? "Oh, Boris turned up at the G8 in a military jet, what sort of message does that send?!" " Oh, Boris turned up at the G8 in a plane built by our old business partners, with our nation's flag on the tail, what sort of message does that send?!" "Oh, Boris turned up at the G8 in a Boeing , what sort of message does that send?!" "Oh, Boris turned up at the G8, why didn't he just a note apologising for us?" "Oh, Boris turned up at the G8 in a plane built in Britain. He's soo jingoistic". "Oh, Boris turned up at the G8 in a taxi, what a ridiculous little man".
