After seeing that awful video of George Floyd, another video of a 75yo. White male protesting peacefully, being suddenly shoved over and left by thugs in police uniform on the ground, un conscious.

The two officers dismissed and 57 resigned in protest. As far as im concerned 59 tbugs out of the police and good riddance. Is it more than racism? Is it institutionalised thuggery creeping in?

was reading something about this, apparently they resigned from this unit but not the police, so they still employed as cops, but they already smearing the old man saying he was an agitator and he slipped.

looks like a push to me was uncalled for

In my opinion it's institutionalised thuggery, is the whole police force racist no, is there racist cops yes... Wether your black brown native American Asian etc etc you'll be in the receiving end in my opinion but again not everyone.

Stats show more white killed than blacks in the US, however more black per percentage it be interesting to see all in all what states individually how their stats are broken down.

Before anyone gets hysterical, I'm tired of having a different opinion than most and instead of chatting about it they be getting crazy, what's funny is its white people getting hysterical about it.where as in general black people can talk about it the ones that are affected, too many white saviours atm.

Not creeping in,been there for years it is engrained in America long before Trump. The old man in buffalo incident is so appalling and a whole squad resigning tells you everything.

There really seems to be a gang mentality in the police in America. They so often cover for each other and refuse to be held accountable even slightly.

Plus I read today that in many states it's ok for police to have sex with suspects whilst they're in custody, providing they are deemed to have consented

The 75-year-old man in question is Martin Gugino, a veteran hard left activist and semi-professional protester. You name it, he protests against.

His Twitter feed is archetypal nutroots Leftie twaddle, with attacks on the Democrats as fascists, decrying Obama as a failure, hilarious juvenile calls for revolution now! and tons and tons of anti-police messages and #Fuckthepolice, #ACAB hashtags. It is both hilarious and pathetic.

So this was no sweet old man who was innocently asking the cops for directions to a public lavatory or some such crap, as he has been painted by the media, but a hard-left anti-police activist who stepped forward looking for a confrontation with the riot cops.

I felt sorry for the old guy originally, but after viewing his Twitter feed and realising what a cunt he is, I feel he got precisely what he was looking for.

Hell, don't feel sorry for him. He's the sort of crank who will see this as a boost to his credibility - his very own police brutality video. Revolution Now! indeed.

He may well be all those things and more, had he got in the officers faces screaming hatred then yes they had the right and duty to move him out the way so they could do whatever they were tasked to do..

But they didn't know who he was and he was clearly not aggressive so the video is what it is..

Excessive use of unwarranted force..

Left-wing? He is a hard-left anti-police activist who went looking for a confrontation with the riot police, a bit silly at any time, but esp when you're 75 years old. If you look at the video, you'll notice that in his left hand he's carrying a high quality helmet similar to the ones used by the police - who needs a riot helmet if they're just coming for peaceful protest?

According to the Buffalo Mayor he was asked several times to leave the area and was seen trying to agitate the crowd into violence. The video shows him approaching the police and trying to stop them moving forward in line - a bit more than "peaceful protesting".

He appears to be the kind of leftist weirdo who just enjoys trouble, wherever it comes from.

This video has appeared on Youtube from earlier in the day, where Gugino is winding up a group of protesters and is, according to one of them, "looking to get punched in the mouth". Apart from confirming that these protests have attracted every kind of lowlife, it shows Gugino with his riot helmet, apparently having declared that he'd come down there "for fun".

Interesting post - and completely irrelevant.

He could have been anyone standing there! He didn't threaten the police, they just used needless force.

The police of all people, are now lying about the incident, saying he fell over when its captured on video ffs!

Facts & rationality?

Why does his politics and reasons for being there matter?

The police's job isn't to interpret their response based on someone's politics.

Yes. Just like if you're black due process and your day in court doesn't apply you can be run down and shot or suffocated on the street.

If you're white however, you can shoot up a church of black people, including a senator and be driven to Burger King for a meal on your way to lock up.

So the police saw this guy, called up his record and found he was a "bad 'un", consulted a judge and were advised that it was okay to use excessive force against him? Or they saw an old bloke, no idea who it was, but decided it was okay to knock him down anyway?

How about the video showing the guy in a wheelchair, committing no offence other than being disabled in public, with police deliberately shooting rubber bullets at his head? No doubt it will be found that the guy has some kind of terrible criminal record, maybe he's a repeat offender for wheeling without a license.

When police are seen using excessive violence against old people, disabled people, black people, when their superiors are okay with that, then it's time to get rid of those police. Police violence is what started these protests, further police violence pours fuel on the fire.

A policeman that will knock over one old guy without knowing who he is, will knock down any old person without caring who they are.

I love the way you people all 'wade in' with your facts gained from Facebook, Twitter, the man over the road who was nearby....

You see a snippet of video and your cast iron case is set by it.

You believe those who talk the same political beliefs that you hold.

Why not stop for a moment and ask yourselves this;

Do I have ALL the facts?

Do I really believe social media where the population is largely consistent of kids, activists, nutters and those dreaded fake news stories?

Is that video all that happened, has it been doctored and does it represent the whole story?

Do some politicians, mayors, leaders of groups etc ever simply say what they want or want you to believe regardless of the real truth?

Why not make up your own mind but only IF you know All of the actual FACTs?

"After seeing that awful video of George Floyd, another video of a 75yo.

Response to OP

I’d like to share my own thoughts regarding these incidents and the police,

In this country we are more middle of the road and have a more even handed approach, that doesn’t mean to say we’re perfect no we definitely aren’t but we’re better then the USA.

We like the US have Riot Police and in the same way there job is to break up protests that the establishment finds uncomfortable, they do this by provoking violence and then breaking up the protests.

The 57 Riot Police Officers who resigned didn’t quit the Police but just quit the Riot Police, I’ve seen no quotes from them in the media, perhaps they would say they were following orders.

It’s just occurred to me that the one Union left that has any strength is Police Unions.

Food for thought I don’t wish to upset anyone and just want to put another point of view.

You're missing nothing. Im merely stating that i find it hard to feel particularly sorry for the sort of person, no matter what race they are who would threaten to kill an unborn child and it's mother. The same as i wouldn't be sympathetic toward a released

um.... for the purposes of an autopsy all that homicide means "unnatural death".....

so as you were saying... "2nd degree" murder actually means murder without premeditation but with intent

Police in America arrested, handcuffed, took to the police station and finger printed a six year old child for throwing a temper tantrum. The video on YouTube is heart breaking, the officer has since lost his job but he's a scapegoat as over 2,000 5-12 year olds have suffered the same fate.

Police tasered a 15 year old riding a quad bike which he then flipped and suffered fatal injuries. A policewoman is heard saying he's only 15 let's get outsiders to help rush the ambulance through. Her colleague says he should have stopped and outsiders are for police only.

A black man, hooked up to an iv, in a hospital gown in a hospital is arrested, his iv removed and he's taken away in a police car on suspicion of stealing an iv stand.

A policeman in full uniform is held at gunpoint in a government building by a rent a cop for not giving him his weapon. Police are despatched as an African American male is in the building with a gun. Imagine their surprise to see it's their colleague.

I'm black with a white partner, I have no axe to grind.

Watching these incidents and hundreds more caught on cctv, police body cams etc is frightening and I'm watching in the UK!

George Floyd may not have been welcomed into my home as a potential son in law but he deserved his day in court, not killed on the street by a power tripping policeman.

The police have enough to contend with without their own making bad situations worse.
