Now I'm not Diane Abbotts biggest fan,by all accountals she is a decent constituent mp but she is not front bench material.By memory she has made 2 high profile gaffes but I find it strange there isnt a day goes by where her name is brought up on The virus forum.

This isnt a labour versus tory thing bit a few weeks ago priti patel couldnt read out a number yet this is never mentioned. You could write a book on Christopher graylings gaffes (millions wasted on buying a ferry company who had no boats)yet once again his name is never brought up.

Surely the media must have an influence here?

I think the media is too fascinated by Boris getting his ass whipped to be worried about anything else.

The FT described him as needing his cheerleading squad back. How did they put it.... the only cheerleeders you'd never want to have sex with

But yes the guardian did have a hilarious go at Priti when she didn't know her own regulations

Which two gaffes do you recall?

Priti Patel is the new Grayling - an omnishambles of epic proportions.

She's not in the media very much because Cummings has told Boris it's not good for the Tory Party's image.

Boris, Raab, Hancock, etc aren't good for it either - they just aren't anywhere near as bad.

As far as the shortcomings of the opposition parties are concerned, the right wing tabloids have got the Tories' backs on that - and always will.

How much influence any media outlet has is entirely dependent upon the susceptibility to their message - factual, or otherwise - of each individual.
