This is literally true.

A UN Security Council resolution for a global ceasefire to deal with Covid-19 has been blocked by the USA.

First because they didn't want WHO and then because they didn't even accept the term 'specialised health agencies'.

No ceasefire.

I'm interested in the case for this being a good thing

It's good for Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Raytheon.

All of which donate heavily to the Republican party and to Trump's re-election campaign. Although I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

Conflicts involving nation states. They can stand-down large-scale active operations.

The UN self-evidently cannot speak for non-state actors.

Are you presenting this as a reason that the USA is correct to not endorse this?

If you cannot magically pause all conflicts in one SC declaration you shouldn't pause the ones that you can?

Would they? You know this do you?

Why do you think it was proposed unless the intention was to make some attempt to follow through.

By your logic, the only country actively intending to ignore it would be the USA.

Military strike to distract from domestic mishandling of the virus anyone?

I take it you think that the USA was correct to kill this resolution then because of the benefits that continuing these conflicts without pause bring?

Its quiet sad that a great country like the USA doesnt want peace. Trump obiviously gearing up to take some diversiorany action to stop Americans looking at his appalling record.
