https://news.sky.com/story/conservative-party-under-investigation-over-2-6m-eu-election-spending-11967991

The Brexit Party, who won last year's EU elections, reported the most spending with £2,609,834 spent.

This meant they marginally outspent the Tories, who spent £2,600,026 on the elections they once promised not to hold.

What’s the point here?

The conservatives spending party money on elections they said they didn’t want?

The investigation into their spending ?

You missed in the subject that 4 other party’s spending is also under investigation, including the greens.

That's the headline.

Tories probably got that honour being the second biggest spenders.

Tony Blair and Bush found guilty of war crimes...no consequence.

Bedroom Tax should be scrapped according to the UN...still exists.

etc.

Nothing happens when they do get found as in the wrong anyway.

It's probably relevant because another government might not have chosen the world's worst strategy to combat the virus.

Herd immunity expects an enormous loss of human life, something most governments wouldn't even contemplate.

It will be interesting to know how much money was spent on generating fake news. And what category does it fall under?

When you have enough money you aren't accountable for anything.

How does the European elections in May have anything to do with the current government, other than they spent slight less than the brexit party and slightly more than the Lib Dems in an election they didn’t want to happen ... and your introducing covid 19 in to the mix

West London

Of the eight parties who spent more than £250,000 on the EU elections, the Electoral Commission said it was looking at five of them for "submitting spending reports which are missing information that would give voters a complete picture of their campaign spending".

That's also includes the Green Party.

That can be a trivial error to doing something seriously misleading.

What I am more concerned about is the time and money and effort spent on micro targeting individuals for votes. The sums spent on profiling and data gathering to try to win an election when the messaging on social distancing and responsible purchasing behaviour in the face of this virus has been so utterly terrible.
