I'm north of the south this week, wondering if any lovely like-minded New Zealanders are free to say hello, or more during the day! Cheers

Have you got a route planned or are you just wandering?

Great Missenden

Our route is something like this:

Fly into Auckland

2 days there then pick up the RV

Down to Rotorua, Hobbiton and Waitomo

New Plymouth for a few days with friends then on to the south island.

Nelson and Abel Tasman

Down to Franz Josef glacier for a helicopter ride.

On to Queenstown and Milford sound

Then back up to Lake Tekapo to gaze at some stars then across to Wellington

3 weeks and a few days but feels like we should have booked more time!

Brilliant, you've picked some great spots.

Just under 3 weeks is a to get itinerary. Allow more time to cover distances here - the roads are nothing like the UK, especially in the South Island.

For example Queenstown to Milford Sound is a 5hr journey.

Beautiful country. I loved it so much I never left.

I have to agree, 3 weeks is a bit short of time to do both Islands. As said above there's no motorways on the South Island (Mainland)

I've done it in a car and on a motorbike. Each time I've spent days just driving trying to make up time in the schedule.

I've known people who hired an RV then wished they'd got a car and stayed in hotels instead.

I'm sure you'll have a great time but maybe use a tour bus for things like the Queenstown to Milford leg.

Did you have much success via Tinder?

Will give it a try but always nicer via Fab as we all know that we are swingers - nothing to lose though and room on the back of the bike for any adventurous lady who fancies an exciting journey!

Yep, enough success to keep me happy. I was dead upfront on my profile, I'd say I was travelling through X or Y area, then I'd mainly suggest meeting for a coffee. Took it from there. Might be different for you, but it worked for me.

Have a great time

Invercargill is great. Motorcycle Mecca, Truck Museum and the Hayes Hardware store for the Burt Munro enthusiasts.

Dunedin has lots to offer too. Albatrosses, penguins, nice beaches and great cafes.
