Only had a quick play with the mobile optimised site, but looking good so far. Don't know how easy it is to implement, but how about a feature where it detects your current location, then does a 'browse meets' with the region already selected, date already set to today's date and profile is looking for the user's profile type. i.e. a 'one touch' who's near me and might be interested in playing today. This may be similar to what you have i mind for the 'Who's Mobile Nearby'.
