Username search/missing friends

Hi twice I have done the username search and it hasn't found the person I'm looking for.

I'd had a text from a fab friend so looked under my friends list and they weren't there. So did a username search and they weren't there. Consequently text them to go on line and then they popped up on my friends list as a new friend. Weird.

Sorry if this is the wrong place
