Disappearing message alert when searching

I've currently got a message alert showing in the summary bar at the top of the screen, but whenever I run a search , the message alert disappears when I get to the results page. If I go into a specific profile from the results, the alert reappears. This is happening on both my phone (Galaxy S5) and my tablet (Galaxy NotePro ), both running Android.
