How can I use the look who's near search on this tablet pc with out having a mobile sim as it's just WiFi

I don't have one, but an article I've just Googled suggests that it DOES have GPS, is that not the case?

It does have GPS but I think it also needs to be connected with a mobile network as it says it can't find my mobile phone

It "shouldn't" need to be on a phone network if you have a wireless connection. Can you access the web site from it?

I can access the mobile site but it has a near me button that allows you to see who's logged on nearby but it seems that it works off mobile networks

No, that works from GPS! What happens when you turn "Who's near" on?

When I try searching for anyone nearby it says that it could not find my phone.

When I use Google maps it shows my location
