I would love to have a like button (and a more functional forum in general). Being able to like something, rather than comment that you like it, helps keep discussions on topic and focused. Stops threads getting clogged up.

Surely it's just shorthand for acknowledging something. The world has moved on from 1980s style bulletin boards.
