Can someone explain in a nice way why 2 things regarding socials are put in place

1 only limited guys

2 a cost imposed

As I'm real curious for me I feel it defeats the object x

North west ish

Firstly the cost: most socials ask for a contribution towards cost. This is usually a minimal amount. Most venues charge for hire. Without contributions the organisers would need to foot the bill.

Secondly, the restriction of men: when you organise a social you will get alot of interest from men. Without limits the guest list would be v male heavy. The reality on the day would be most won't turn up. Too flakey. You need balance: too many men can put the couples/fems off attending, too little and those looking for men will stay away. It's a fine balancing act, you need the right men, who will turn up, on your list.

There is a solution to your questions tho. If you don't like what a social is offering don't go, and arrange your own. Most won't cos it's bloody hard work. So to all the social organisers, keep doing what you are doing.

The reason why organised socials limit the number of single guys places is exactly the same as why swingers clubs don't allow every single man in. Basically, they'd be overrun by single men, who would then complain there were no women or couples. It is a balancing act.

I organised socials in the past, had a lot of interest from single guys, but a lot of them lost interest when they were told it was just a social, no play. Then on the day, not even half bothered to turn up. And, surprisingly (or maybe not), most of the ones that did turn up were verified, even though the idea behind organising social in my area was to help people get verified.

I did not charge anyone for coming to my social, and me and my partner did not get charged when we went to a social together. However, some organisers do charge, as either a way to cover costs of hiring a venue or as a way of trying to make sure people turn up.
