Following on from the first thread!

The Lancashire / Preston social will take place on Saturday the 28th of July 2018 in Preston City centre.

The venue is a city centre late bar that we have exclusive use of from approximately 7.30pm until around 11pm.

After this time it will be open to the general public.

We're hoping to get as many people together to enjoy a drink and a laugh and fully embrace the social side of swinging. After the social there is a local club called Entice, where you can get to know your new found friends a little better this is a very short taxi ride away from the venue with taxi ranks next to the venue.

We have managed to secure the venue free of charge on the proviso that we have a minimum of 45 guests so please do your best to spread the word and get as many people to the social, if we can make the first one work and a great night then we are more likely to secure usage of the venue and make it a regular event on the swinging calendar.

While we want to encourage as many people to attend as possible we are sadly limiting the amount of single gentleman attending, gents this isn't personal but we want to keep the ratio's comfortable for all attending. We are going to base the amount against the amount of couples and single females attending to keep a happy ratio for all so please don't be offended if you are placed on a reserve list until numbers increase.

This is our first social and we're doing this purely for the love of swinging and all you great fabbers, we're going to do our best to make it perfect but if anyone spots anything we've missed feel free to let us know and the more that we get to attend the better it will be!

So in short :-

28th July 2018

Preston City Centre venue

Approx 7.30pm to 11pm

Free Entry (please make it worthwhile for the venue by buying a few drinks :D )

We haven't been given any info as of yet, and annoyingly this element of the evening is completely out of our control. We were running the social with the ability for people to head to Entice post party. Hopefully we can get some idea if they will be open tomorrow but we're guessing this isn't a one day closure xx

No3 is a great club but as you say it may be a little far in terms of travel for those who have accommodation booked in Preston. It's safe to say we're a little more than miffed as we haven't been given any info from Entice or a courtesy message to let us know what's going on.

Thanks for the support, we know the club isn't the end of the world it's just frustrating they haven't had the decency to inform us of the closure. Especially after messaging us yesterday saying how much they were looking forward to it. We have tried to support a new club by working with them. Just gutted for people who had planned on the social and the club xx

We're a little annoyed to say the least by the clubs actions. They have ripped an integral part of the social out without the courtesy of even messaging. We're just so sorry for people who have made plans with the intention of going to the club.

We didn't listen to people when they said you can't hold a successful social in Preston... we thought we managed to pull this off but it's collapsed.

We've had 15 couples cancel due to travelling distances with more expected, people wanted an evening where play may be involved. We can completely understand this, we would have tried to continue the social but we have an agreement with the venue of a minimum 60 guests in order to make it financially viable for them to open early.

We expect there are others who will change their plans once they hear the news that Entice has closed without warning or explanation.

Due to this, with much frustration, anger, and disappointment we have made the decision to cancel this now.

We have spent weeks doing admin for this social, "A" spent days trying to source a venue, and Entice couldn't wait to get involved at the prospect of money be sent their way.

We didn't want to leave it any longer and risk people ruining their weekend completely.

Again please accept our sincere apologies, this decision has not been taken lightly and it's safe to say Entice will never see us set foot through their doors should they ever open again.

We will try to email you all individually to ensure this information gets to you. Again we're very sorry we have had to take this decision but we hope you understand our rational in doing so.

Gutted for you guys. As fellow hosts we know how much hard work goes into organising and communicating with a large group of people. Such a shame that you’ve had to pull the plug but never feel guilty as I’m sure its a decision you’ve made in the best interests of everyone.

Unfortunately due to the clubs initial status of being closed without indication of reopening this has caused the majority of couples to cancel attending the social.

We genuinely hope Minx is ok but the clubs handling of the situation and the information posted has in our opinion been poor and led to weeks of planning going down the drain.

Here, here!! Was a great idea to have a social event,there definitely aren't enough! Might still head out into Preston if anyone fancies a drink with us....you never know, Entice might be open???

We'd suggest hartleys, that was our second choice for the social. Staff are great and drinks reasonable. It was only due to capacity we didn't choose it x

For those not familiar with Preston ..... as you come out of the train station there are 2 nice traditional pubs within 10 yards.

(The vic & the railway)

Then just stroll up fishergate and there are plenty of nice little bars mostly on the right hand side with some tucked away in little side streets.

Personally I love the place and find it a lot friendlier & more relaxed than Wigan......which is a complete shithole full of beds & steds.

That's harsh, the organisers had to have a minimum of 60 people to have exclusive use of the bar for the social as 15 couples cancelled the social (with more to follow) due to no notice from Entice if they were opening or not the numbers didn't stack up. I know it was a health problem which obviously I hope they are fine but if they were posts from Entice on fab then they should have been in contact with Chimp Kitten first they were left in limbo to what was going on.

Without wishing to get into a massive debate if you had taken the time to read our explanation above you'd realise why the social was cancelled.

However as you appear to be un willing to do so allow us to sum it up.

We arranged the social, we agreed with the venue that we would have 60 guests in order to provide the social for free.

Entice wanted to get involved with the social so we promoted the social on the basis people could go to a club afterwards in order to play if they wish.

Over 80 guests signed up to the social

Then without warning, without a courtesy message and with no indication of what was going on club entice "CARL" posted a status to say the club is closed until further notice.

A number of our guests who had joined us based on going to the club afterwards read the status contacted me and apologised but they no longer wanted to attend purely a social evening. People wanted the option to play at a club at the end of the night.

So as the numbers fell the ability to hold the social in a free venue also collapsed.

After this entice "carl" then puts up a status saying they are hoping to open tomorrow. Well that's just lovely and all but firstly the damage was already done... secondly there is no guarantee to people that the club is going to open. As you've already said it's a social with a club for those who wanted it.. well people wanted it.

Please note the club is free to do what ever it wants in terms of opening and closing, however when you're working with someone to promote an evening having common courtesy to message them when you're not opening is usually the done thing instead of posting an ambiguous status.

So we're not spitting our dummy out, we spent weeks and weeks trying to organise the social and the last thing we wanted to do was cancel it. However since the numbers dropped and understandably so, we couldn't source another venue the day before, nor do we want to ruin peoples weekends who wanted to play. We actually care about the swinging community and want to keep them fully informed about the situation and not just post a status saying "social cancelled until further notice"

So yes it was mainly a social, but a social with limited numbers in a venue that's to big for the remaining numbers attending which would have left the venue out of pocket for isn't really fair on anyone. Hope that answers your question fully, and in future please take the time to scroll up and read the rationale that was given instead of accusing people of "spitting your dummy out"

If things are that urgent why is the club posting status updates, if you can afford the time to post that as a status then change it later in the evening why not post something like "Minx in hospital, club can't open tonight however should be open Saturday" And since you've decided to poke the fire lets face it, this isn't the first time the club has let a lot of people down, opening night ring any bells when the club cancelled the same day leaving a lot of people out of pocket with hotels?!

We arranged the social, we agreed with the venue that we would have 60 guests in order to provide the social for free.

Entice wanted to get involved with the social so we promoted the social on the basis people could go to a club afterwards in order to play if they wish.

Over 80 guests signed up to the social

Then without warning, without a courtesy message and with no indication of what was going on club entice "CARL" posted a status to say the club is closed until further notice.

A number of our guests who had joined us based on going to the club afterwards read the status contacted me and apologised but they no longer wanted to attend purely a social evening. People wanted the option to play at a club at the end of the night.

So as the numbers fell the ability to hold the social in a free venue also collapsed.

After this entice "carl" then puts up a status saying they are hoping to open tomorrow. Well that's just lovely and all but firstly the damage was already done... secondly there is no guarantee to people that the club is going to open. As you've already said it's a social with a club for those who wanted it.. well people wanted it.

Please note the club is free to do what ever it wants in terms of opening and closing, however when you're working with someone to promote an evening having common courtesy to message them when you're not opening is usually the done thing instead of posting an ambiguous status.

So we're not spitting our dummy out, we spent weeks and weeks trying to organise the social and the last thing we wanted to do was cancel it. However since the numbers dropped and understandably so, we couldn't source another venue the day before, nor do we want to ruin peoples weekends who wanted to play. We actually care about the swinging community and want to keep them fully informed about the situation and not just post a status saying "social cancelled until further notice"

So yes it was mainly a social, but a social with limited numbers in a venue that's to big for the remaining numbers attending which would have left the venue out of pocket for isn't really fair on anyone.
