York Social Christmas party Friday 1st December 7.30pm

He's making a list and checking it twice;

Gonna find out Who's naughty and nice

The Christmas York Social is coming to town

On the 1st of December , first door of the advent calendar can only mean one thing … the big York Social Christmas party !

So get your party frocks ready , dust off those dancing shoes and let's kick off the Christmas party season in style at the big York social !

Held in a large private room at a venue close to the city centre, we have a DJ booked for your evenings music.

Chance to meet new and existing friends. £5 per couple/singles (entry money goes towards future events i.e. Booking DJ's)

Our charity this time is SENSE

Sense is a national charity that supports people who are deafblind, have sensory impairments or complex needs

There is NO turn this year , so specific act, we never publicised there would be , last years was ok but just didn’t appeal to everyone so staying with the excellent DJ that we have had for the last 2 events as everyone kept telling us how good the atmosphere was

YORK SOCIAL BIG SUMMER PARTY

Friday 21st July 7.30pm.

Get your summer tans sorted , shorts and summer dresses on this is the big summer social

Held in a large private room at a venue close to the city centre, we have a DJ booked for your evenings music.

we also have some fun and games planned , this will be our biggest event yet

Chance to meet new and existing friends. £5 per couple/singles (this times entry money will go towards our Christmas social so we can hire an act again

The DJ costs almost as much as the act we had last year , and all the hosts agreed the DJ is better than the act !!!

If people think we make money running these , they are mistaken !! Each event just about breaks even after allowing for all the costs , DJ etc , none of us make any money out of them, we all love doing them, they take a fair amount of time to put together , organise and plan etc . If we made money , we would do far more than 4 a year as we would run it as a business rather than for the love of the event !!!

Bobby , there was not a change of plans that was significant enough , hence we didn’t comment or feel the need to publicise it !!!

I’m sure you make decisions about your event without discussing them with everyone on the forum !

Mr big and myself have decided to leave fab, we’ve had a great 3 years on the site and met some lovely people but think it’s time for a change. If anybody else from YORK would be interested in becoming a host please message a host or the yorksocial fab profile.

Had some brilliant messages from people we have played with, fabs been great and we might be back but our hosting days are over. We have loved being hosts to york social but thinks it’s time to let other people take over. York social is a great event that different people have looked after ..... grow bigger and better, we’ll always support it xxx

It’s capped now but as the numbers went up Is was only fare on the single guys, on the night about 20 will actually turn up that’s what always happens

Hi guys, thanks for your comments. We opened up the single guys list upon hitting the 100 couples mark to an additional 6 more. If you look at the ratio with us to other socials you will see we do keep the numbers in check. We have talked to the guys and they are all very respectful. Most come on a regular basis and we have little or no trouble. Also please bear in mind that there will be no shows on the night so we certainly envisage no more than 30 attending. Hope this helps and if you have any further concerns please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Thanks Romeo, said everything I needed to say to people with concerns really.

I can confirm no additional numbers will be added, and although we have a reserve list these will only be added if any drop out to replace. As stated above there will never be a full compliment of guys show up on the night but it is guess work as to how many but Romeo is a very experienced host and I believe his guess of about 20 to be spot on.

I do take time to chat to guys on the list and they know their behaviour must be exemplary for us all to enjoy a great night.

On the face of it it does seem too many single guys but then we arent interested in meeting single guys so we would say that.

Ive just compared to a social we attended last year with approx 400 on the list. Percentage wise for single guys looks very similar even if all 36 turned up so maybe isnt unreasonable at all.

In the end you chat to the people you want to and not others and if worst comes to worst theres worse cities to have a night out in

Back in the day, on another swinging site, if a party / social was being arranged, the rule of thumb was that only 66% of those who said they would go actually turned up. It was pretty accurate !

Hi Everyone, I attended the last but one York social with my g/f, it was first time we had attended. Obviously we were on a couples profile can honestly say we didn’t notice loads of single guys at all to be fair. It was a great night big venue and can Honestly recommend it to anyone

I agree. I have attended this event on my own and did not, at any time, feel there was a problem with anyone. It is just like chatting to people in the pub.

You can measure single guys in incorrect numbers percentages or even inches. I never had a problem with the number of attended guys. It’s not couples night only is it? Some clubs do couples nights only so you have got the choice
