OK coming from another thread I mentioned Whitby as a social.

Had a look and there's a goth weekend on Oct 27th.

So I'm just putting it out there to see if there would be any interest in setting this up.

Ps mods at this stage it is just a possibility of a meet and not a actual meet

I hope it rains and the weathers really gloomy for them ,they will really enjoy that.....

The 27th you say.... remind me closer to the date , I wouldn't mind attending as a spectator .....

It would be worth it...get a train to Middlesbrough...then change to the north York moors railway to Whitby. No more then six hours but it would be a bloody good weekend

but of recent years added 2 the april is far bar the better with the stage having some good acts

and it do not get dark as quick

I think it's fair to say although Whitby is a resort location accommodation is limited and usually well booked during these events ....

A lot of people who attend opt for the camping option which keeps you right at the heart of the action and the campsite amenities are not too shabby ...

I went to Whitby completely on the spur of the moment last Saturday - and walked about in a bit of a frustrated sulk because unbeknownst to me beforehand it was a steampunk weekend ... I'd have loved to have got all my gear out of mothballs for that ...

There are however two steampunk festivals at Whitby, in February and July.

Quick scan on late rooms shows everything actually in Whitby booked. Bleed their little raven black hearts they will have been getting ready and planning this one for 6 months if not as soon as last years was over.

If I can make it I'm going up with a couple of friends and a range rover or SUV so we tend to do the day, drive out and get dinner some where out the way, drive back, party then sleep it off in the car. Get fish and chips then drive home.
