York social Christmas party Friday 2nd December 7.30pm

Held in a large private room at a venue close to the city centre featuring a full evenings entertainment from a diva of the stage who will entertain with witty banter, comedy and of course your evenings music

Chance to meet new and existing friends. £5 per couple/singles to cover costs.

We had a good night last night could only stay for a few hours because of babysitter but what a bunch of nice people. Enjoyed our 1st social. BTW who were that hot young couple tall lady with dark hair attractive dark haired guy with shaved sides. WOW. They seemed to disappear before we could say hi.

Just booked our return train ticket to Newcastle we got two tickets to York for £24 but they wanted £80 to go home. Wait four days and we have picked up the return tickets for £24 also. That is everything in place now just need to get our name down for the social

I would check the size of the bed as in the UK a queen size bed is smaller than a normal double :-0

At home we have, what I believed to be a European queen size bed, from Barker and Stonehouse. It takes a 160x200 mattress. I, perhaps wrongly, assumed the ibis bed would be the same size.

A look at UK bed sizes on Wikipedia says a Queen size is bigger than a King size and simply another name for a super King size, at 180x200.

It seems in the US and Canada the queen is smaller than the king, at 152x203.

Each country seems to be different, it makes buying fitted sheets a nightmare!

I just try to reminder 160x200. Queen size could mean anything depending on where it comes from.

I so wish they was just, say, 5 standard sizes across the globe. It would save all this confusion.

I would check the size of the bed as in the UK a queen size bed is smaller than a normal double :-0

Thanks for the tip, it's worth us checking.

At home we have, what I believed to be a European queen size bed, from Barker and Stonehouse. It takes a 160x200 mattress. I, perhaps wrongly, assumed the ibis bed would be the same size.

A look at UK bed sizes on Wikipedia says a Queen size is bigger than a King size and simply another name for a super King size, at 180x200.

It seems in the US and Canada the queen is smaller than the king, at 152x203.

According this this website an ibis Queen sized bed is 160x200 the exact size as our own Queen sized bed...

Beds larger than single but smaller than double are usually called, three quarter or prince.

Think we'll stick with ibis, it's far less complicated with bed size
