Batley, West Yorkshire

It's finding the right venue for the right price to keep admission prices to a minimum.

The ones we've been to in Leeds and York have been in normal pubs.

Since its only a social that shouldn't be an issue.

We'd come to the Wakefield one buts there's always too many single men and not enough couples, which is okay if your into single guys lol

xx

There's plenty of pubs in leeds city centre and suburbs with function rooms you can have for free if there is enough people turning up for drinks. My organisation skills are crappie and I don't know enough folk on here to organise one anyway.

So then help us improve the number of couples that come. To keep the venue free on the door we have to fill the pub, so put your names down and tell your friends about it. Help us make the Wakey Social what you want it to be.

We've sorted out the venue, the buffet and the DJ/karaoke and advertised it on the forum. Now its over to you guys. If we get enough couples and girls coming we can shut the list to single guys. But if couples and girls won't put their names down we can't shut the list. So help us help you!

I completely agree, but therein lies the problem.

We put our names down, turn up and find that it's a 50/50 split of couples to single guys and we don't go to the next one.

Unless enough couples are prepared to give it a shot, it's a catch22.

When we looked at the original post for Wakefield social about three couples said they were going and about 10-15 single guys and that puts us off to start and probably does other couples.

We know it's no ones fault and single guys want to meet people as well.

But it is off putting if there's no limit on single guys.

Last Bradford social had 30 couples and 8 single guys because it was limited. That sounds like a good social evening.

Don't get us wrong we think your doing a great job organising stuff, but it does need a big drive on couples. ??????

We would be interested in organising a Leeds social, if anyone knows a suitable venue, it would be to the same format as the Bradford socials, we would rather hire a room, then we can limit who attends rather than the venue

Batley... (near Leeds)

There is a bar just off city sq that already hosts socials...They have their own dj and door staff...if anyone genuinely wants to take on the Leeds social, just pm me and I'll give you the details.

village between York and Hull

One of the first York Socials was a secret pub meet which was fantastic. everyone who were on fabs wore a paperclip so others knew. It was a great success and just in a normal pub.
