yep, spending £40 to sit and have a drink is well worthwhile.....

there used to be a couple held in dudley, but they have stopped due to one thing and another.

if you can find a quiet pub, thats dead on a friday/saturday, and they would be open to a bit of alternative custom, then organise one yourselves.

we are looking to try this in telford

We are looking at going to chams but wanna get to know some people that go there first

I think social events are a good way to get new people into it without having to jump straight into a club meet

"Wouldn't know how to go about starting one"

neither does anyone else until they start looking into it lol.

personally, on a saturday evening im doing a wee pub crawl, seeing if i can find somewhere thats almost empty, or has a free function room that would be open to holding a night for us.

then we will advertise it

Where did they used to hold them? Surely that could provide possible locations.

I used to organise informal Socials on another site, would meet up on broad st in Birmingham and take over a corner of a bar. always was well turned out.

not really been out much in the black country.

i may be wrong, but when it comes to socials on here, most are organised with in a club. think this makes it easier for people to do both the social and playing with out having to wait to get back to the hotels.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

Many pubs have a function room. Ask and see what they have. The social I`m holding in Bournemouth this weekend has such a room which as long as we but drink from the bar we can have it for free. We are having them provide a finger buffet too. Just ask around.

Someone needs to suggest a evening and a pub. Even if only a few people can make it gets the ball rolling.

Otherwise these things just drag on and never happen.

Count me in where ever it is.

Don't xtasia do a social night on a Thursday, free event on a Sunday? Although chams is also good for social as its 23 quid Sunday to Thursday to get in

not everyone wants to do the club thing, though.

sunday to thursday doesnt work for those that can only meet weekends, and so on

Why not just pick a pub and meet up in there. Just play vanilla while drinking and chatting...it only a social after all.

"Why not just pick a pub and meet up in there. Just play vanilla while drinking and chatting...it only a social after all. "

would be much more relaxed if we were not to be mixing with vanilla couples.

otherwise there is the risk of upsetting the locals by them being approached for coming back to someones place for fun (well, upsetting the femal part of a vanilla couple anyway. we all know the guys would be up for it lol)

Chams is a wonderful place and we go regularly. However, we have found the only place people tend to socialise, from our experience, is the jacuzzi. Maybe that's just us, but you can only spend so long in a jacuzzi lol!

so the argument you would spend the same in a pub is inaccurate then lol

£40 plus drinks, is probably closer to £60 or £70, whereas £40 in a pub is, well just £40

If you get into the swing of things (groan) at Chams you won`t have time to drink £40 worth of alchohol! You`ll no doubt want to buy some water to quench your thirst though!

We have organised a couple of "gatherings" at chams as a pure social at a club is not likely (someone will want a shag lol).

which negates the whole point of a 'social' doesnt it....

It's £30 to get in and you take your own alcohol which means about £20
