Would a social be better for us?

Hi everyone hope this is in the right place but will also post in the advice forum.

Whilst we have been on this site since 2020 due to how the world has been and personal reasons we still haven’t really kicked on. G is talking to a couple of people and they seem to be getting on well.

Despite this we are still unsure of what we are actually capable of and where the boundaries lie for us. The obvious next step would be G meeting these people but we are both unsure over a one to one at the moment due the the nature of it and perhaps the “expectation” it creates. Ofcourse we could be overthinking everything and making it up in our own heads.

One option we have considered is a social but we dont really know much about them. As far as we can make out its where people meet at a venue have some chats get to know each other without the ability/ possibility to take things further unless it was arranged for after the social. We think maybe this may suit us as we would feel stronger and more in control of the situation together aswell as easier and quicker to communicate how we are finding the whole experience and feelings. G has described wanting to find a nightclub kind of setting where you could have a drink and a dance. Is this possible?

All advice and opinions welcome

Chams or Socials

Hi, you would be more than welcome to attend the Stoke social.

1st time doing anything can be daunting but they are great for meeting likeminded people & getting a verification to say you are real.

There is also the option to attend Atlantis after if you wish - it’s like a small nightclub, no expectations to do anything though but there is little dance floor.

We have met people just for coffee or a drink & also been to big socials & feel lucky to have made some good friends this way.

We are local to you too if you wanted to chat & get more info

J x

Stoke-on-Trent

I was just about to comment about the social quite close to you in Stoke that we are hosting and then realised that your name looked familiar.

I'm Lizzy one of the organisers and I'll be happy to chat with you both and introduce you to some of the group that are going that I know. Many people will be attending who don't know anyone else, so the majority will be in the same position as yourselves .

Socials are ideal events to meet others in the Swinging lifestyle and discuss anything you want to openly without judgement. I look forward to seeing you in June.

Lizzy from the STOKESOCIALPROFILE.

A social does sound like the better option for you both! Enables you to meet a variety of people in a social situation.

Just noticed we might be quite close! Always happy to chat if that's something that interests you both?

But yeah, socials probably the way forward.

Socials are definitely the way to go for a new couple. Go and socialise with others, make contacts and go from there. We find one on one meets with new couples that we have never met very awkward and a bit forced, which then leaves everyone in a difficult position if someone out of the 4 is not happy to proceed. A social events means you are not directly meeting someone else, you can talk with lots of couples and see if you socially connect with any of them without any pressure x

It does sound like a social would be brilliant for you.

The Stoke Social is nice and close, but if you can't do that then take a look at UpTheBrum in Birmingham too (or possibly just do both if you can!).

I help out with it, and we have had lots of new people attend the past events and it's a really friendly get together with a chat group before hand (our old one is still going strong) to help get to know people a little before you actually meet, and even has a speed dating section if you want to get involved in that (not as scary as I thought).

I hope you can find your feet.

Enjoy! X
