COUPLES & SINGLE LADIES SOCIAL – SATURDAY 27TH NOVEMBER 2021 @6.30pm

Hi everyone, we’re delighted to let you know we have secured a lovely new venue for the Winter Exeter Social – Saturday 27th November 2021.

The event will run from 6.30pm and, as always, we’d love you to attend.

This South Devon Social is an opportunity for swingers from across the area to network, have a drink and get to know each other.

The event is open to all verified M/F couples, F/F couples and single ladies (green tick or flag).

If you would like to attend, please register your interest by way of direct message to our profile. We’ll share the event location/joining instructions with the profiles on the guest list a week before the event.

Q&A

Q: When is the event? – A: Saturday 27th November 2021 from 6.30pm.

Q: Where is it? – A: A stylish new classy licensed out of the way venue in Exeter city centre.

Q: When will you tell us the location? – A: We're keeping the venue on the down low until a few days before. We’ll send everyone on the guest list full joining instructions after conformation of attendance. Please do not share this information or make it public as we wish not to keep the event discreet for all who are attending and wish to use the venue in the future.

Q: How much will the event cost? – A: the owner and management of the venue has kindly let us book a separate area for us all at no cost as long as there is no trouble and everyone is paying for drinks and should this night go well we are hoping this agreement will remain if we wish use this venue in the future.

Q: How do I join the guest list? – A: Please message us (Southdevonsocials) to ask to go on the list. Only people who have booked and confirmed will be on the door and allowed to attend.

Q: Can we play on the premises? – A: No, this is a strictly social only event. However, there is nothing stopping you taking people home / onwards after the event finishes.

Q: Do we have private use of the venue? A: Yes we have arranged a separate area 6-6.30 until 9.30-10pm for us all; after which the room in the venue will open to the public. We are all welcome to stay as long and late as we want but after this time and as people in the group leave the area it will become open to all that are using the venue.

Q: Who can attend? – A: Any Verified/validated (green tick/flag) couple (mf,ff) or single lady (f). All ages and preferences are very welcome.

Q: I’m a single female; can I bring a male partner? – A: Yes you can bring a plus 1 if we have notice and they are verified? however please remember that you’re attending as a couple. Arrive together; socialise together; leave together.

Q: I’m a single male / CD / TS / TV / MM; can I join the guest list? – A: Sorry no, this is a couples and single ladies only event.

Q: How long will the event last? – A: Officially about 3 hours, however the venue will be open until late if you want to stay longer.

Q: Why is the event so early? – A: We often see pre social drink groups so want to give people the opportunity to network at the start of the evening, leaving the remainder of the night to go clubbing / drinking, hit the hotel or host an after party.

Q: Have you run this event before? – A: Yes this will be our 3rd South Devon Social but this is a new venue

Q: Can you suggest any hotels? A: any of the many central hotels would be fine and a short distance from the venue. Holiday Inn Express, Mercure Southgate, Jurys Inn and both Premier Inn city centre and st davids we would consider walkable distance. Hotel du vin or Southernhay house for premium options.

Q: We look young, do we need ID? – A: Yes, if you’re under 25 please bring ID and expect the venue staff to ask for it on entry if you look under 25.

Q: What’s happening afterwards, are there any plans? A: We’re just running the social; what happens afterwards is totally up to you.

Q: We’ve never been before, what is the dress code? – A: Think smart, stylish, classy ladies, We would encourage the guys to be smart (shirt, shoes)

Q: What additional restrictions / policies will be in place with regards to COVID-19? – A: We’re committed to running an enjoyable and safe event inside the guidelines on the day. Please Please ensure you have passed a LFT test 24h before and are feeling well. Depending on circumstances we may need to amend the numbers or format of the event to maintain compliance with restrictions in place for pubs/nightclubs at the time. This may include using the NHS app to restrict admission to those who have been fully vaccinated or recently tested.

Q: What can I/we do to help? – A: feel free to promote the event, tell your friends, post it in your status, post a meet. It will be what we all make it.

Thanks to everyone who has messaged since we listed the event. we're flat out on the Fab-min trying to keep up with questions.

Currently 50 people on the list of which 24 are couples and 2 single ladies. Once we've reached a point where we cannot comfortably fit any more we will run a Resurve list to fill any cancellations

We'll be sending out confirmation emails at the end of the week to ensure everyone currently on the list of 80 is still coming on the 27th?

Get in touch if you haven't registered your interest and want to come and we'll do our best to fit you all in and allocate any spaces that come up

We are both very much looking forward to it

Not long now and sorry if we've been a bit slow to respond to a few of you we have been snowed under with messages in response to the winter social.

Everyone who has confirmed on the guest list of 80 that did confirm should have the details as of today and we are both doing our best to allocate any spaces that become available before Saturday evening.

Looking forward to a great night and seeing you all there

Hopefully include some of us single blokes next time? It's getting ever more difficult to make friends on the local scene if all the clubs are couples and single women only and now even the organised socials are couples and single women only... By all means vet us first or limit numbers or whatever but being excluded from everything is rubbish

Yeah would be good to meet some single men too and like you said as long as the numbers are limited and profiles thoroughly checked out then should be no problem.

We would love to but here in lies the problem the amount males who want to attend far out wheigh the couples and having to go through and vet every one is an impossible task. The other factor is by opening it to single men we drastically reduce the amount of couples who are willing to attend. It has taken up a lot of our personal time effort and a little bit of personal money (we actually incur costs) to run a social so don't feel like we can deal with the extra vetting problem and influx of mail.

We have allowed and did have single men at this event and the one previous if thay attend with a single female so we haven't excluded them and have tried our best and also know how important it is to keep numbers balanced.

There's other social events happening (not run by us) and club nights in the area that allows single males and would advise you try and attend one of these

Well, the only local club I'm aware of that did allow single guys recently changed to allowing them only as a guest of a couple, as far as organised socials are concerned, I've not seen any in the last few years (pandemic notwithstanding) organised by anyone else (ok there was maybe one but it got cancelled due to someone leaking the location beforehand).

Maybe a quick poll of couples who actually did attend to see who really is for and against? A ratio of, say, one single male per three couples or single women might be a bit more inclusive whilst keeping things balanced?

Otherwise, devil's advocate of course, what's to stop a single guy setting up a fake couple profile, getting the location details then turning up on his own and claiming she has a headache? Presumably some form of vetting goes into the couples on the guest list so can't see how it'd be that much harder working out which guys are genuine (face pics, veris, amount of activity on site) vs the ones to screen out ie dick pic avatars, totally unverified, recent joiners, non-site supporters, low effort or barely comprehensible biography text etc etc?

Again I could understand if it was a play event but a social in a public/semi public space should be a slightly different matter.

If you guys managed to get sixty or eighty people interested, you must be doing something right, it's obviously a fair bit of work to organise, but I can't see it being that much more difficult picking out a few decent quality blokes that get their invite requests in early and don't mind being vetted.

This just isn't true looking in the South West meets section and club reviews there are clubs that have nights that allow single men? Infact one new one has a mixture of open to men events including a "singles night" advised on there Web page?

One open every Saturday and Wednesday towards Yeovil and the one in WSM every weekend both allow men and so does one in Swindon IIRC? You mentioned steamers they have a taboo night that is open to everyone including men and as you say can go if invited with a F/MF/FF on a normal Saturday so hardly the case of exclusion.

There's socials and parties that pop up time to time in the meets that allows single men you just have to keep looking.

We get the impression that you are trying to hijack the thread or just having a rant there's stuff on everywhere for both single males and the people that are interested in meeting with them as well as one's that are aimed at couples who don't want to be in environments where they are present.

The choice is there for both the organisers and the attendees to find the one that suits them best and has always been a part of the scene we're afraid.

You are entirely correct, there was a social arranged in Plymouth which got cancelled. You weren't sure you could go as you thought you might have been in France at the time. The original organiser fell ill and we stepped in with a few days to go. Within 20 minutes of sending the email confirming the details, a person stated the location and time in their status and posted a meet advert with the location clearly visible to everyone. Within an hour the location was repeated in statuses, meet requests, profile updates and chatter in the chatroom. At that point we decided we wouldn't go as we don't know very well and we felt we couldn't organise a suitable alternative venue in time. Another lovely couple stepped in, changed the venue and reposted in the forum for the social to go ahead in Plymouth on the same night... you didn't sign up.

The same couple then arranged a few more socials, with the last one being early March 2020, just before the lock down occurred. Again, you don't seem to have signed up, but they were all available to single men.

The couple have since arranged further socials in August and October of this year when single men were allowed, but you've not signed up to them either despite these socials being advertised openly on the forums.

Please don't take this whole post or any part of it as a personal attack, or anti single men, because that is not the way it is intended. However, you can't say that single men have been excluded from socials just because you haven't signed up to them.

I'm afraid a social is only organised when someone puts in some effort, and just like if they were organising any other sort of party, it is entirely up to them who they want to invite.

Big Thank you to everyone who turned up we couldn't have asked for it to go any better. Both touched from all the lovely messages and verifications.

Regards to allowing single men to attend on their own we already have listened to what people had to say at this one and the socials we run previously, have had a few messages from couples in response saying that they would not have attended or would not be interested in joining if they would be single males going so we are not planning on changing anything.

Sorry to all those that messaged we could not fit in we really did our best to fill any cancellations. The original plan was around 30-40 people we and we never imagined that we would need to turn away so many

We both need a good rest now
