Please commence.

As a side note I’m not going to take anyone off the list until we know the whole ‘vaccine thing’ isn’t just some dirty rumour that isn’t actually coming up being. I will just keep a list of those who will struggle if it DOES come into play. I don’t want to do anything prematurely and have people cancel hotels or anything if there’s no need.

Well the vaccine passports thing seems to be thoroughly undecided then. Sort of Schrödinger passports. First they're on, then they're off. Now they're maybe on if the government decides that covid is still a thing or if it's a Saturday in December or if the wind blows the wrong way.

But if they do become compulsory it'll be with only a weeks notice, so anybody booking anything in advance needs to get jabbed and signed up on the app now, as it'll be too late if they do say it's needed. Of course, if everyone is jabbed then the passports aren't needed anyway because everyone will have one... Schrödinger like I said...

Also worrying that when they change their minds this quickly, it's pretty well impossible to believe anything about the types of venues and numbers of people where the requirement could come into play. Like, what was the craziness about some number for indoor events, then some bigger number for outdoor events, then some even bigger number for "all" events? Like, that's for events that are neither indoors nor outdoors? Just where the fuck is not indoors and not outdoors? Parties on somebodies front door porch?

So don't expect it to be any sort of rational decision making process. My prediction is that they'll say passports mandatory from 1st December, then when venues fail to do 100% checking the government can use it as an excuse to cancel Christmas again.

No-one knows what the COVID situation will be in 12 weeks, no-one!

As organisers, GG & I are trying our best to keep you informed of any updates etc but we don’t have a crystal ball.

There are those that are vaccinated, there are those who are not and there are those through no fault of their own cannot receive the vaccine.

We do expect attendee numbers to fall slightly and this is why we will not be putting spaces on the profile until nearer the time.

We may have to cut our original number... we may have to spread out within the venue... we literally do not know but we are doing our bestest behind the scenes to keep everything going as much as possible!

We’re both looking forward to this as much as you guys are

We’ll keep you posted xx

As an aside please don’t ask for your December space or lack of to be automatically transferred to the April list, especially if you make your own decision not to come or if one of the rules rules you out.

The response to this event has been OVERWHELMING and we are turning people down on a daily basis (which we feel awful about - there might be opportunity in the future to up the numbers but for now definitely not!)

We wish we could just have everyone off fab there but let’s see what 2022 brings.

The venue opens to the public at 6 so we’ll be moving to a private area within the venue at that time, obviously people can mingle with the good old public if they want to... we all like a vanilla every now and again

It's so long now since I've even been into the town centre, I don't know which places have survived over the last 18 months. But pre-covid in the china town area there was an excellent Thai place, and next door a Vietnamese place. A hundred yards away somewhere that you could get Japanese desserts. And a few hundred yards in the opposite direction a pretty reasonable Korean restaurant. There's also a really good veggie/vegan Indian that I know, but that is about 5 miles out of the town centre in the suburbs to the south. Ten miles out of town there is one of the very few Cambodian restaurants in England, can't tell you what the food is like though as I've never managed to eat there - they are only open 3 days a week and you have to book ages in advance to get a table.
