Change of opinion

Now we all know how easy it is to form an opinion of someone by seeing them around here but have you ever got talking to someone and found your first impression was wrong?

Does it make you reassess how you judge people or just stick with your gut reaction?

Only once on here, so far.

She even told me that she was a nightmare, but I continued to try to form a friendship.

I should've listened.

Not so much here but I’ve unfollowed and even unfriended some people on Facebook over status updates they’ve had through this virus business seeing their mindset and beliefs has been offputting.

I don't really form opinons of anyone, everyone is a mixture of everything to differing degrees that can change but most people are predictable despite this.

I think this is because i have no ego and so can't even judge myself.

Sounds familiar but with someone from outside. Unfortunately I am an optimist. My curse.

I think you have to remember that fabulust is a sheen that we see on people at first that sometimes dullens as quickly as it sparkled.

Equally there are some truly wonderful people on here that stay wonderful throughout.

Then there are just some for whom you hit the block button.

Our version of swinging goes something like this . . .

• • • Meet you.

• • • Get to know you.

• • • See if I fancy you.

• • • See if I want to swing with you.

• • • Anything else just wouldn't be swinging!

In all honesty, I don’t really judge people until I get to know them.

Also, I don’t have the friendliest of faces on here I don’t think. Think I’ve got a bit of a mean face but when people start talking to me, they realise ‘hold on a minute, he’s the total opposite’.

And, without sounding like a broken record, many of my meets on here have always turned around and said ‘you know what, I didn’t realise we’d click so much, you ain’t that bad’

(Aww)

I know what you mean Ms Wilkes, I've had to really bite my tongue on FB in regards to the comments some family members have made.

When meeting in a club, I go initially by attraction, I usually like to have a chat first and that can sometimes put me off people. On here, the forums can be make or break for me, someone who at first comes across as sexy and nice can after many threads be revealed as anything but or vice versa.

I don't think I've ever experienced this. I take people at face value, so you're alright in my book until you do or say something to make me feel otherwise.

True dickheads like to make themselves known very quickly.

We heavily rely on our gut feeling - you should never judge a book by its cover. However, the gut instinct is rarely wrong...

This is what I was actually discussing with someone that made me ask this question.

I was saying my online personsa is me but just a different version, on here I'm not shy or paranoid, I'm not going to ever meet 99% of the people so it's not as important to be liked or to be embarrassed by being silly.

Sad to say but on the rare occasions, my perception of people have changed.

I find multimedia an almost impossible way to get to know the true person behind the key pad, only through meeting, time and what they do, can I truly understand them.

I trust my gut instinct and usually it’s right. Except for men I’m interested in sexually. Then it just poofs out of existence. Then I trust AngelEyes as I’ve chatted to some real tosspots on here who were great to begin with.

Hmmm. well you know how with Covid they say to act as though everyone you come into contact with is infected, so as to keep a safe distance and follow procedures to keep yourself safe.

Yeah that's pretty much how I see people, a dangerous infectious virus that will create devastation and destruction, some won't mean to, they just don't realise whilst others will take great pleasure in it.

Some I get a good vibe from without meeting, generally those that open up and have their vulnerability on show. But once I meet people in the flesh I'll know.

My gut is rarely wrong.

We always meet for a drink and chat initially.

Never played on first meets except swingers holidays.

Worse thing that can happen is a night chatting in the pub.
