I don't think that there is a specific timescale. However, I do think that you should live together before committing to marriage. You never truly know a person until you live with them.

difficult to say.

my experience is that I fucked it up.

I had it made. everything was in place and I just didn't have the guts to seal the deal.

I still regret it, not for myself. but the damage my decisions did to her.

they say you don't know what you have till its gone.

its so true.

You don’t truly know until you’ve been married a couple of years.

I would say give it 10 years then if you still feel like it just throw caution to the wind.

sunny Manchester :)

Think I was with my ex about 7 years before we married. It lasted about 8 years after we married. Best thing that ever happened to me but by fuck I couldn't see that at the time. God only knows how miserable my life would be now if we stayed together. Lifes a funny old thing.

I'd agree with this. It's different for everyone in terms of time.

My husband proposed after 2 years, then we were engaged another 3 years before we married.

People make a big deal about living together - did you live together before marriage?

I have never seen the point in marriage. Just live together.

The saying 'how long is a piece of string' comes to mind.
