The eerie silence

I just went out in my back garden and there’s not a sound

Can’t hear any cars or youths screaming and shouting in fact it’s total silence

But then I do live in the country miles away from anything

It is eerie eveywhere, a few people flitting about early on doing jobs then the streets and roads all emptied by the afternoon.

Silence? What's that? All I hear is a quiet high pitched noise.

Oh tinnitus...

I have allotments behind me. This afternoon all I could hear was someone over there using a petrol hedge trimmer or similar. It's the same on a Sunday morning. Whenever we get a nice day and might enjoy a bit of peace and quiet, some inconsiderate allotment tennant has to interrupt the peace and quiet

"I can hear my freezer "

I slept in a bed sit with my freezer back in my miss-spent youth and learnt to love it.

The noise of the freezer I mean, not the actual freezer.

That would be wrong.

I'm working from home. Sat in my back garden on my break to get some air and it was just dead silent. To say I live next to a main road between Lancashire and Yorkshire, it was eerie.

Strange to think it is now unusual to see a jet heading towards the states!!

Not many military flights either!

Our village roads are quieter and there's less people out and about so its peaceful.

I'm sat in my back garden now and there's the sounds of birds, we have lots of trees so there's usually lots of birds singing. Also next door but one's children are playing in their garden.

It's lovely

The Town by The Cross

I'm really loving the quiet. It reminds me of a more peaceful and respectful time.

I'm sad that it's because people are being confined and could become ill but GOD ....... i'm enjoying the empty roads, shops and streets.

I've got students across the road who usually have music blaring from their cars, and yell up and down the street at all hours pissed up. They've gone home now by the looks of it, so that alone is making life so much more peaceful.

Wish it'd stay a bit more like this ongoing to be honest hah!

I guess you live in the golden triangle then?

It was so peaceful once the students had all gone home for the summer.

Nah, I'm forest side - thought I'd escape it but apparently not. There's only three student houses on the estate, and until this past academic year I've never had an issue.

This time, however, they've been absolute dickheads. Had to get in touch with the college, council, and even the police this year

On the plus side two of them were stood topless at the window getting ready for a night out, so there's that. Obviously being far too old for them, I looked away almost immediately

Carlisle

I gave my sister a lift to work this morning ( I was picking up a prescription) and halfway she said stop here by the park im early i’ll walk from here - no one about - received a txt from

Her later that she was aware no one about then a van crawling behind her - she looked and it was a ups van looking for an address but she said just imagine it wasn’t and it was some nutter - there’d be no one to see it or help. How sad that it should even be a consideration that crosses your mind ....

Silence?

All I can hear is the kids screaming from 5 doors down, lawnmowers, a couple of people hammering and dogs barking.

I'm actually amazed how much traffic is on the road here. It seems like nothing has changed! Not many people walking though.
