My latest car no longer has sensors.

Now find myself beeping to myself when reversing into parking spaces!

Sad, I know !!

"Do you drive into a space and reverse out, or reverse into it and drive out?

It all depends if the parking spaces are back to back or an isle between the rows for shopping. If there is a central isle then reverse in but if you are bumper to bumper you drive in forwards. I assumed that was common sense and anyone doing otherwise would be a total idiot.

I prefer to reverse in & then drive straight out. Did you know that starting your car in reverse uses up more petrol that starting up going forward? So its actually more efficient to reverse in. I learned that from my boss years ago, so I always reverse in now.

Huh? You start a car in neutral then move into the gear you need dependant in the direction you wish to go. If you need to go in the opposite direction you have to stop the car completely anyway.

All should drive in so the boot is easy to get too.

I saw a low life woman, push her trolley passed two parked cars to get to her boot, keeping the trolley away from her car, and did she give a shit about the scratches she was giving the other car, no.

I did shake my head when she cam round the front...

Turn left at the Singing Ringing Tree

I always reverse into a space and drive out. The number of times I've waited ages whilst someone has made a pigs ear of trying to reverse out, then they drive forward to change the angle, then they reverse again. Sometimes I want to knock of their window and ask if they want me to move the car for them.

Depends on the space And which car. As if I reversed into some spaces I'd not be able to open my boot to put my shopping in.

I'm better at reversing into a space than going frontwards.....but most spaces I need the whole space and wouldn't get boot open due to the barriers.

Reversing in cause more risk of accidents, you can't fit a trolley down the side of your car and if you leave it the wind catches it or it rolls off into another car, more often than not in the car parks I go to.

Its considered best practice to reverse into a parking space for 2 reasons. Driving out forwards reduces the risk of running over any pedestrians or not seeing other vehicles in your blind spots. Also with a cold engine reversing out and manouevering to then go forwards uses more fuel.

Its probably more a steamed up windows winter problem than a summer problem with clear windows, also as you drive then stop to reverse into a space I would hope you would be aware of any other vehicles or pedestrians nearby. Where as by the time you have got into your car started the engine then start to reverse out you may not see any pedestrians wander by as you move out. I have seen more near misses with people reversing out of spaces than reversing in. Also thats how it was explained to me when I took the Institute of Advanced Driving course.

It`s actually longer than two spaces unless I raise the front loader bucket and wider than a single. I can get out of the cab if it`s in a single but no-one can get of the vehicles parked next to me!

Think cars with longer bonnets are much easier to reverse in...think you need a bigger angle than most carparks give to be able to drive in and keep it within the lines x
