Because of this virus bollocks. I can't see my little one at the contact center. Which is understandable in the circumstances. We can't go back until they say we can. So i don't know when i will see little one. Breaks my heart that i get to see them every two weeks. Never mind not at all. So fuck you lot banging on about toilet roll and no food. What about us single dad's who are suffering because we can't see our prince's or princesses.

My family are all overseas. Every last one of them. This is the life I chose, but there's a difference between "I'll see you once or twice a year" and "I don't know when or if I'll see you again".

My last visit for the weekend was a month ago as I had shingles. Now I've changed to a shit 6 on 3 off shift. I would see her this weekend, but as her mum is on the vulnerable list for this poxy virus, plus I travel by train and book a hotel, she's said not to. I understand, but it is still shit

Genuinely feel for you and my heart breaks for parents in similar situations, especially the Children. Unfortunately Children won’t understand the ramifications of the current crisis but they are very resilient wee people. I’ve been in a similar situation to you in the past and I know how soul destroying and gut wrenching it is without all this shit happening and making it vastly worse for you.

Don’t know what else to say in case it comes across as patronizing due to being typed and not verbal but head up, mate.

Heartbreaking times for all and it's most difficult when your times were rigimented by others.

Just a suggestion - what about writing a online blog (even if the littleuns can't access it just now). You can make your blog private in that only you can see it. Journal your thoughts there, tell them how you feel. Upload photos of anything you wish that may be linked with your journal entry. Every time you create a new entry, a time line is also created so effectively they can see that you hadn't given up on them so to speak. If they are too young, you could use it as a book to read to them.

Huge xx

That's tough, sorry to hear that. Maybe she'll have a rethink given the extreme circumstances.

There and to the left a bit

All *this* is effecting all of us in so many different ways far beyond just the basic illness and it's heartbreaking for anyone that can't see or have contact with family members - there are some great ideas on the thread that we could all use.

Maintaining some element of communication with the ones we love but can't see, is important, as is just having some form of contact with other humans.

It's not the same of course but in this day and age there are so many ways of maintaining contact as best we can but my heart truly goes out to you when even at a time like this circumstances mean those ways are limited.

I just hope your ex softens and allows you to find a way to maintain contact with your kids, which is just as important for them as it is for you.

Maybe contact her somehow and try to explain that and see if perhaps a daily call at a set time could be arranged - again not the same I know but we're all going to have to adapt and find "different" ways as this progresses.

Good luck to you

Stick in there mate. It’s a really trying time and the quicker people take government advice and stay in , the quicker we will get back to some kind of normality.

The new lockdown rules explicitly state children who live in two households can move between them. It is possible to see your kids if they don't usually live with you (U18s). It's stated in the Govt guidance document.
