Should've happened way earlier, in my opinion. At least the owners and staff stand a chance of making it through this now.

Right,

I work in a pub or I did until today, people were not listening and Thursday was my busiest shift in over a year, its up to people if they chose to still gather in large amounts in pubs but us barmaids have no choice in the matter x

"Should've happened way earlier, in my opinion. At least the owners and staff stand a chance of making it through this now."

True. My old local was still open today. It had to stay open until told to close or else their insurance wouldn’t cover them

Had no one but core staff in all week... madness

They should have closed weeks ago, same as gyms and any other social gathering place.

Just shows that they have to be physically shut for people to follow the rules

My neighbours... meet on the balcony safe distance apart.... we’re having a dinner and drinks via Skype with friends that were due for dinner

This is gonna be an unpopular opinion BUT, I think it's been bungled from the get go. If measures had been put in place weeks ago (limited capacity, reduced opening hours, noise limits on music and mandatory regular cleaning of surfaces etc) I think there would be minimal risk and no need to close pubs and restaurants.

As it stands now I guess closing them was the only decision possible. But it's the staff I really feel sorry for, they are facing a very uncertain future and financial hardship.

It's been a fucking shambles

You could say the financial help today has been a good (necessary)move but anyone who think the gmnt has handled this well is living in cloud cuckoo land.

As with hundreds of other businesses. It has to be done though.

Right - I saw an interview with a 30 something who said he wasn’t bothered about spreading the virus - he said anyone that is should stay at home cos he wasn’t bothered - with arrogant pricks like that out there I think making it mandatory was the only option

"Right, but should have happened before this

I've got a pair of clippers that I may be tempted to use, debated going to the barbers earlier in the week but thought better of it.

Am actually thinking about letting it grow for the duration though as have never let it get that long before and am interested to see how it goes

Fucking stupid idea. Once they've shut for a week, they'll be shut permanently. The brewery will just sell the building and land for housing.

Just goes to show how thick and self centred some of the general public are.

Kind of understand why politicians treat us with so much contempt.

Some social media sites have opened my eyes, the postings have turned stupidity into an art form.

Would not be too sure about that, it seemed that beer and lager were subject to panic buying in a branch of Morrisons this morning so imagine other supermarkets would be the same.

As it goes on, I think you will begin to see a backlash against older people from younger people. " Why should we suffer" type of thing.

Lots of ill feeling really Need it and now this.
