"There's a band called the Axis of Awesome. Look up one of their songs called "4 chord song" " Yeah but that’s just pointing out that you can play a lot of pop songs using just 4 chords. They’re not actually ripoffs of each other.

Just like milli vanilli and C&C music factory. Happy to profit on others talent.

"Cat Stevens Wild World and Pet Shop Boys It's a sin. I'm sure there was a court case about this." Yes the Pet shop boys sued a famous personality for libel , won the case and donated the damages to charity.

"Cat Stevens Wild World and Pet Shop Boys It's a sin. I'm sure there was a court case about this. Yes the Pet shop boys sued a famous personality for libel , won the case and donated the damages to charity. " Cat Stevens wrote the song in 1970. It was on his Tea For The Tillerman album but you’re right about PSB suing a personality. It was Jonathan King. Found this on Wickipedia..... In 1987, Jonathan King accused Pet Shop Boys of plagiarising the melody of "Wild World" for their UK No. 1 single "It's a Sin". He made the claims in The Sun, for which he wrote a regular column during the 1980s. King also released his own cover version of "Wild World" as a single, using a similar musical arrangement to "It's a Sin", in an effort to demonstrate his claims. This single flopped, while Pet Shop Boys sued King, eventually winning out-of-court damages, which they donated to charity.

"There’s a good documentary on iPlayer called ‘how pop songs work’ it’s a ok documentary but there’s a section on artists ‘paying homage’ and ripping off, well worth a watch if you’re not heading out anywhere " Is that the one where they tried to create a pop song using a computer program?

No, it kinda goes through lots of songs and looks at the techniques used to create them, not too heavy on the music theory either
