On friday i went to my bus stop for work as per usual and the whole area where you sit was taken up by a fella (homeless) with his old bike and little trailer. possessing all his wordly goods.

It was coldish and he was obviously very tired as he was sat with his eyes shut trying not to fall off the little bit they call a seat.

Outside the stop were two women who couldnt go and sit down because of this fella. And proceeded to talk about how disgusting it was that the busdrivers hadnt shifted him.Or the police etc....

Ive seen this guy many times and he is always polite and doesnt bother anyone.

I went back to the little paper shop , they know me.

Got him some hot tea and a roll.(free)

And took it back to him.

I thought he was gonna cry he was so grateful.

Worth the look on them womens faces any day....

I used to do that Peaches when we lived in Edinburgh.

There was this guy who always sat outside one of the big stores in Princes Street with his dog and the dog was always well fed even tho he wasnt and the dog sat on the blanket while he froze on the cold concret!!

Well one day I was out of leccy so I decided to walk from one side of the city to the other to get power cards got there fine but on the way back the homeless guy stepped out the shadows giving me a heart attack (cos I was pushing my year old sleeping daughter in her pram) and whispered there are 2 d*unks following you let me walk you to the police station.

You know what he did and refused to take any thing from me as a thanks.

The next time I saw him I went and bought dog food and bottles of water for his dog - them he took tho even tho he refused money for himself!!

having split with my hubby earlier this yearb i was made homeless for a few months, staed with family and friends but its not a nice feeling and i was lucky to have people there for me, so many dont have that, so spare a thougt next time u see someone home less,it can happen to anyone

every other christmas I used to help out at centre point feeding the homeless - think we have decided how to spend xmas this year again - we are kid free and somehow it does sort of cut through the comercialism - ty peaches xx

there were a small crowd of homless guys who begged in Glasgow city centre and they took turns of sitting with th skinniest but most lovable little dog. think it was a collie cross.

I lived in an area called the merchant city which sits just to the east side of the city centre and saw this dog get thinner and thinner by the day.

Instead of doing the usual and dropping a few quid to the guy, like most people did because they felt so sorry for the animal i went to the tescos and got a fair few cans of dog food and went over and sat it beside the guy. He went fucking mental, kicking the bag of tins, tried to spit on me and went to punch me. apparently i was an arsehole, he had to eat and he was shouting who cared about the stupid dog....so much so i had to 'administer a slap' to the guy.

few days later the dog was nowhere to be seen. I know a lady from a nearby shop did phone the rspca but i had a terrible feeling they were too late

for every good person there is a bad but u can kinda see the guys point of view for kickin off?? but can also see other peoples maybe people thought he was a jakey or a junkie or whatever we label people sub conciously and think they not deservin because of thier situation and think of the animal i know il probably get slated for this statement but sometimes in britain we appear to care for animals more than humans. il wait for the barrage of abuse... as peaches said the way things are now in a few months any one of us could be in that situation every story has a background. but def was crap of him to kick off when u only tryin to show some humanity!

on a lighter note...

i used to work with a very very camp gay guy, he was lovely,

i remember him going into town on pay day on his lunch...

he came back to work and told us he saw this "tramp" sat begging....so he said, i'm not giving them money cuz i dunno wot they are buying ( fair point )

so he went to hampsons and bought him a vegetable pasty .....( my friend was veggie) wen he gave it to the tramp the tramp asked wot sort it was, lmao.... my friend was horrified that some one who was homeless and starving had the cheek to ask wot flavour it was, lol ,

it made our day

mr hawkwind was homeless for 2 years and he said he wished there were more people like you out there who have the compassion to see past the scruffy clothes and see a real human being but sadly there isnt xxxxx

Nearly been homeless myself a couple of times in the past so I'm fully sympathetic of those who are made homeless through no fault of their own.

dont be fooled by all the homeless,most are genuine ,but i remember walking down a busy street ,and saw someome who appeared down and out ,,i gave him a few quid ,,later that day i walked back down the same st ,just as this man was leaving ,,iwalked behind him ,and to my total amasement,he got in a merc car and drove off

here here peaches well said and well done! we've done likewise here only it was fish an chips and yes the guy looked like he'd been given a million pounds! the way we looked at it was he was somebodys son and we'd like to think if it had been our son someone would have done the same for him!
