I keep getting sent home from work early due to it being quiet. I'll not be able to pay my bills next payday the rate it's going.

Sounds like a 0 hour contact.

The good thing with 0 hour contracts is you can have mor than one of them.

Maybe look for a 2nd / back up job that will provide income when your main job is quiet.
