UK LOCKDOWN ANNOUNCED

The thick of it!

If the UK government announced at 9am tomorrow, that from midnight tomorrow, the UK was on lockdown and everybody must stay in their homes for a period of two weeks, how ready would you be? or are you? could you survive and what would you do to entertain yourselves?! (apart from the obvious)

Hasn't really affected me tbh.

I would be very ready and have been very prepared.

I work abroad so work wont be an issue.

I saw this become a pandemic mid January and understood the risk back then thus since mid to end Jan I've been making preparations in advance such as:

I have face masks before they were even sold out (I travel a lot so need those for flights in particular).

Gloves, hand gels, soaps etc

On top of this I've made sure bulk shopping was done and necessities and supplies were stocked up should self isolation need to happen.

I've been in self isolation now for a week or so. I dont have the infection but I'm self isolating so that I dont become a carrier.

This is the bane I have with many on this site that express their selfish ignorant views on the forums as to how this is nothing or not as deadly as the flu etc. In this day and age ignorance isnt bliss and it shows me just how much intelligence matters to me.

People need to behave and show responsibility. We all may never catch it and if we do may not be affected at l but this is a killer and ever human being is a potential carrier thus we need to be sure we dont become the agents of death to someone else.

This isnt about me or I but about us and we. I feel its responsible to remove myself from the equation as swiftly as was possible so that I can protect those around me and if everyone atleast thought this way perhaps just maybe we wouldn't be wasting money on illegal wars and so forth.

So yes I'm very prepared and have been prepared before the news even shed light on this.

You may ask why was I aware so early on well it's a mixture of common sense and hindsight with also awareness of current affairs.

Thanks

Oh yea and to entertain myself lol I dodnt answer this...

Well I wont be meeting until this is over and find meets to also be irresponsible too.

I have been doing work as well eating then theres tv and movies ofcourse and long phone calls too.

I'm very comfy in my own space but lucky being Asian I'm surrounded by family so the boredom of loneliness or the loneliness of boredom is rare for me lol

I'm at home 5 days a week so another 2 days wouldn't be a challenge.

As for food and necessities, I haven't panic shopped so only have enough fresh stuff for a few days but, there's on line shopping and I get fruit and veg delivered once a weeks so lock-down wouldn't be a problem for me.

As a side note: if you have gone out and bought more than you need (for whatever reason) please consider donating your excess resources to those who can't get what they need - thank you.

No they do not the immune system doesnt work that way and nobody is suggesting you use gels when there is water and soap available. In the same guise soap could be argued in this vane too however were lucky to have an innate and a specific immunity a memory immunity that provides care 24/7.

What makes you more susceptible to infection is common sense behaviours such as using toilet paper when you should wash and dry. Not brushing your teeth twice a day or more depending on the individual and tools used. Poor nutrition etc etc

So sod the torie government an there stupid policys"

I take it a Labour government would do it differently, let everyone work, catch it, and the fittest survive, natural culling.

"If the UK government announced at 9am tomorrow, that from midnight tomorrow, the UK was on lockdown and everybody must stay in their homes for a period of two weeks, how ready would you be? or are you? could you survive and what would you do to entertain yourselves?! (apart from the obvious)

Thanks"

Jesus...sound a right bundle of laughs.....

Pssssss it might snow in next 50 years so maybe best buy some rock salt for the path ways....prepared and all that

We would manage as we have enough food etc ( no panic buying, we just generally keep a good level of long life / tinned foods, cleaning products, medicines etc ) and can work from home if necessary

But with two young kids I don’t know if we would all survive being cooped up together for so long. Wouldn’t be too bad if the weather warmed up a bit so we could enjoy the garden

It seems we are quite fortunate in being able to self isolate for a little while at least, lots of others would be affected much worse.
