Finding it highly amusing watching all the panic videos for toilet roll (which I'm pretty convinced are all staged at this point).

Other than that no different than I treat any other virus, I take my own precautions for myself and those I know. I'm in the at risk catagory so it's still business as usual, just a little more vigilant this time around but not changing up my day much.

Yes a bit. I think it’s a worry. Not actually catching it myself but how it will affect everything. Will the schools close? Will it affect my business? How will I work if they do close? I’ve got one toilet roll left and there’s none anywhere around here! My mum has a few health problems so I’m concerned about her catching it. So yeah I guess it does affect me.

In work it’s a concern. I work in the care industry and it’s a minefield trying to ease the concerns of anxious staff and work out contingency plans for our Service Users should things escalate like they have in Italy.

Live in one of the currently unaffected areas. It’s inevitable it will arrive though and when it does it does.

We both work in customer facing roles so will likely catch it via one means or another.

But we are prepared. Good food, alcohol and enough tv to survive an apocalypse.

Because the flu doesn't spread like this.

The threat is not due to the deaths. The threat is due to how highly contagious it is. It is due to the nature of a virus. And the potential it has to none fatally wipe out huge portions of the working population.

A fast spreading low fatality virus is far more of a risk than a slow spreading high fatality virus.

The mass panic is a huge overreaction but go do a small. Amount of medical and viral research on more than just the basics and you will see the overwhelming difference between this and flu.

Work has been quieter than usual so staff are getting sent home early. We only get paid for the hours we work so it's hitting each of us in the wallet already, and being on minimum wage none of us can really afford it.

"Personally i’m a bit worried about my mum. She has underlying health issues.

In work it’s a concern. I work in the care industry and it’s a minefield trying to ease the concerns of anxious staff and work out contingency plans for our Service Users should things escalate like they have in Italy. "

Yep. I have similar issues. I have a frail family member who requires 24/7 care. Trying to reassure them.

The panic buying hasn't really affected my local supermarkets. Other than no pasta in Asda. No biggie. I went to Aldi instead for it. Plenty of toilet roll, disinfectant, hand soap too.

Had to go to the out of hours doctors tonight and surprisingly I was the only patient in there...

I am in a Hilton hotel tonight and stay here often. I asked the girl at the bar who I get on really well with what would happen if a guest took Ill during the night and she said the hotel would be locked down. Two weeks in a hotel sounds good but I was in one for 3 days when the beast from the east hit and was going stir crazy. She did say she would keep me company if it happened.

Within my job it's affecting me as we are having to be alert and I've had to coordinate changing a few things to help fight risk of spreading. It could majorly affect me within my job role if it got more serious.

Personally it just meant that I couldn't take Beast to Dublin for his birthday as couldn't risk the event of a lock down and with Flybe going bust.

Otherwise no effect so far

I guess the only impact it is having on me right now is that it is making me feel pretty stressed. I live and care for my son who is a twice transplant patient and his anti rejection meds also affect his immune system. I work in the community often with large groups of people, commute via public transport and manage a team of 5 who are also out in the community. I also have a very healthy social life.

I do worry that I will come into contact with the virus and the impact that could have on my son but then on the other hand I don't want to get caught up in the hysteria.

Really sorry to hear about your son. It is worrying and for everybody who finds it amusing, there is somebody who it could ruin their life.

People need to remember that there are some very scared people who might not come through this if they get it.

Cat litter when ground down to a powder and inhaled through a rolled up banknote attaches itself to the virus particle's outer layer which means their ability to fasten themselves to the lining of your lungs becomes nonexistent and they are harmlessly then passed from the body in the normal way.

Disclaimer; does it bollocks. But there will be silly sods out there attempting it all the same.
