Today I went to Asda, Tesco, poundshop, B&M Bargains, Home Bargains, Gordons, 2 Boots stores, Spar, and the local chemist. All sold out and none of them could tell me when they would get more stock in. People have gone nuts of it. Baby wipes were also sold out.

This. Vodka doesn't have a high enough alochol content to make an effective hand sanitizer. It has to be about 60% alochol to work right while you're average vodka is 40%.

No soap in my supermarket since before the weekend & not a single case of virus here yet. I only wanted one bottle for the downstairs loo ffs! Got some shower gel for a quid a bottle instead. It's still soap & the hot water will do the rest. It's not rocket science.

Regular antibacterial soap works fine. Idiots buying too much stock have caused these rip off merchants to pop up. Clean your hands thoroughly to prevent any possible spread .... but masks and sanitiser are just over the top and at this point, no more helpful than cleaning your hands with antibacterial soap. Of which there is tons still on shelves.

It's not bacteria you're trying to kill. Although it will also (which means the "good" bacteria also. "

This is also a concern with people going a bit mental with the alcohol gel. That it will dry the skin and cause small cuts after you've killed your skins commensal bacteria. There's always a fine balance with these things.

I don't have hot water(long story, not worth telling) in the house but I go have a lot of hand gel (randomly had it for a while, not been stockpiling) plus there was no loo roll shortage when I was shopping yesterday so I think I'm ok.

I hope the staff have taken the bottle of the wall and kept it inside the ward, just by the doorway so it can be used and not stolen.
