Following the Bristol to London thread, what is your commute to work like?

Who has the longest?

Who has the shortest?

who has the fiddliest (eg most changes)?

I (Luke) intentionally moved close to where I work. I only have a 10-minute walk down the road.

I can do mine by car in about 5 minutes....I can’t complain, but I am near old Trafford so if a match is on it can be a tad longer so I can cycle along the canal and do it in the same time

1.5 hour train journey, followed by an overnight stay in a hotel. Then a 1 hour flight in the morning.

The Road to Nowhere

I'm about a 35 minute drive each way. Gives me a chance to get into work mode on the way & out of it on the way home!

I'm a 10 min bike ride away.

I wouldn't want to travel any further - especially for my current job - I hate it

Diagonally Parked in a Parallel Universe

Depends on where I'm working. If I'm in the office, that's a 20 mile drive, which takes 25 minutes, but mostly I set off from home to go directly to clients. Today my commute is 90 minutes, but the longest I had to do was from home (near Hull) to Cambourne, in Cornwall, which was a 7 hour drive.

Thinking about it, in my last job I was told by my manager at 4pm on a Tuesday that I had to be at Peterhead, 30 miles north of Aberdeen the next day. That was a 7hr 30 minute drive, followed by doing a full stock check of an agricultural engineering depot. That was a long day!

45 mins to 1.5 if I take the bus. Hate it, so recently I've been taking the train (15 mins) and walking (10 mins from my house to the station and half an hour from the other station to work) at least there is no traffic and I get some exercise in this way..

Dubai & Nottingham

Used to commute Notts to Cambridge science park, was fine until the A14 circus began. Leave at 6am, in the office for 8am leave at 5pm home for 7pm. Did it everyday for 4 years.

1 hr train, 45mins bus. Same back.

On a bad day (pretty much every Friday) I can wait 2-3 hrs for the train.

Thanks Transport for Wales or WTF for short.

Geez, I had thought my 1hr drive through the countryside was long. But it's insignificant to some of yours.

I think driving is different to Public transport. When I'm on the WiFi, zipping up the bus lane I can switch off, edging forward in traffic is a constant annoyance.
