I think there have always been over 50's funeral plans advertised on day time TV. Admittedly I don't watch much TV but for the brief few minutes it's on I regularly see some old coffin Dodger banging on about how easy it was to set up a policy.

I also see plenty of life insurance adds. Funnily enough it's always the man that had to take out theses policy's.

Funerals are a ridiculous price. Toss me in the Thames and throw petals on me.

You mean that woman who's always being given a box of parsnips by the neighbour? We all know what he's after!

In all seriousness a decent funeral plan or money set aside is a good idea if people can afford it. Funerals are not cheap

Advertising plays on people's insecurities and in the daytime is when older people must watch more I guess with funerals, insurance mobility and hearing aids on offer. X

My dad has one and he paid significantly less for the funeral when he took it out than it would have cost many years later when he passed away

It actually made things so much easier when it came to the funeral as he had already chosen everything from the wood and handles on the coffin and lining colour ... to location of funeral and order of service, verses and hymns.

I’m not saying either way whether someone should have one but for us it made things so much easier, it took away all those types of decisions (my siblings and I wouldn’t never have reached an agreement anyway) and left us free to grieve.

I’m definitely going to sort mine out, I should probably do it sooner rather than later given my age - well past the half way line!
