I’m just wondering if any blokes on here use a double edge razor and brush and would you ever go back to cartridge razors

I found I got bored of the double edged, took too long, smoother finish with disposables, i use Harry’s

Yep- I have one and a very badger bristle brush, works out a lot cheaper and the shave is awesome.

Be bloody careful as you absolutely cannot rush like a Mach type razor.

Deffo cheaper but takes longer - much longer and not so good for angles and hard to reach places downstairs

I do....I'm not a bloke.

I changed for environmental reasons and it's a much better shave.

Same as above. I've had bumpy skin for years and tried using those double edged razors and was literally soaked in blood, so unfortunately even if it is environmentally friendly I can't use them.

Benefits of having a beard is the now I can keep a razor for longer as I just use it for shaping keeping my beard looking tidy so I go through less razors

I’m diabolical at shaving, so the less Murder Weapon-Esque the better!

Yes, double edge (safety) razors, straight razors and shavettes. Badger bristle bush and quality shaving soap.

If you have to shave might as well make it as pleasant as possible. Once you get used to it I don’t think it takes much longer than with a cartridge razor. Plus, smoother shave and less irritation to skin.

I use mach 3 or the fusion when travelling but when at home with plenty of time to spare a get the cut throat out. . . First few times the bathroom resembled a butcher's floor. Persevered and amazed now at just how close a shave can get, skin as smooth as glass afterwards .

I've find them to cut less and the cuts are cleaner so don't bleed as much.

You have to go slow though, you can't rush it.

When I shave completely or when I tidy up the edges of my beard I use a straight/cutthroat razor.

I used a straight razor before I had a beard, as it was just a much more satisfying, cleaner feeling shave.

Now I use disposable razors, though. If the beard goes, I’ll return to the trusty Dovo

I use a straight razor and wouldn't go back once you get the hang of it it's the best shave you can get
