All us on Fab should have no need to buy one, given no one seems to meet!

On a serious note, you'd need to wash your hands regularly and wear eye protection as well as wearing a mask that meets infection control standards.

Generally, no. Leave them for those going to fancy dress, in very high risk infection potential places etc.

Following simple, sensible prevention steps is always the best action, that doesn't include masks. Stop touching your face etc, when in public areas, which can transfer infections to bodily entry points.

Not all masks are worn properly anyway and viruses can pass through masks, meaning that they will not always stop them getting in to your body.

Let health staff and those who are in poorer health take priority for the limited resources needed too.

If you're concerned about air pollution then I'd recommend an N95- 2.5 face mask. The numbers refer to it will filter out 95% of particles less than 2.5 microns. These little particles are the ones that lodge in the lungs and potentially kill you.

The masks need to be a very snug fit, they are uncomfortable in hot weather and they are for single use so you need a new one every day.

If you're concerned about catching viruses, a surgical mask is probably not much help.They are not snug fitting so contamination can get in at the sides. They are really designed to protect the patient from a surgeon sneezing into your open wound, you'd be asleep and you wouldn't even know it had happened until your leg dropped off.

Good hygiene and a healthy immune system are probably more effective protection against spreading of nasty lurgies.

If you're considering a mask because you think you're ugly,I'd say don't be so hard on yourself. You don't look that bad.

If you're going to a fancy dress party or masquerade ball then yes, of course a mask.

It was more on the lines of the latter, just a laugh but I'm grateful at least I don't look that bad, but I was wearing a mask in those pics
