There is evidence to the contrary. Young fit people also die.

I've read that when the virus attacks, your immune system kicks in and that if you have a really healthy immune system then you get eaten up in the frenzied battle with your immune system attacking you as well as the virus

I'm at risk with a weaker immune system it could very well be me.

People die every single day, in the hundreds of thousands from many different things. This is just another cause of it.

I know people that have been killed by car related incidents. I know people that have died to many different illnesses. I know people that died in 9/11, and during military service. Death is a part of everyday life. In fact it is the only reliable part of life.

I mean, are we genuinely at a stage now where we should be worried? Initially I just passed it off as hooey... maybe 1 too many conspiracy videos caused that.

Lots of talk of major sporting events etc being cancelled, which springs to me that it must be serious as the money involved which will be lost revenue etc

At what point do we become alarmed as a nation?

Like you I have been a bit non plussed by things however today driving home from work the news only had one story it was all about this.

Now I am struggling to remember the last time a news report didn't talk about any other issues.

I am trying to remain calm and put it down to mass hysteria and pandering to social media pressure.

But I don't know this feels different somehow!

I was pondering the same, I contemplated maybe I was swayed by the numerous YouTube videos in terms of conspiracy, population cull etc, like the news has not exactly been forthcoming but it is like you said one subject been absolutely hammered, is it scare tactics? Fake news? A lot of doom and glood unfortunately

Most of the actions are focused on containment at the moment as it is little understood with no vaccination. I will only really worry, if we start to see a high UK death toll. So far there have only been 17 confirmed infections.

This is the only place I go on other than news outlets and looking at power tools ( yes I'm that interesting)

Don't do Facebook etc..

But when you look at how much was lost in trading in one day yesterday it's got to be taken seriously even if it's only because of a possibility of a worldwide recession.

No, people sadly do not take flu seriously. It kills thousands every single year in the UK alone, yet this has people panicking.

On the plus side if it means an improvement in hygiene, it will reduce the spread of many illnesses.

16.6 million people, 17 (and a dog) diagnosed with Covid-19 virus in the UK so far.

At last estimate, around 990 people are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK.

Or the countless other things that cause death everyday.

In 1 day, 108 people died while infected with covid-19, on that very same day cancer killed 26,283 people. Heart disease killed 24,641. Diabetes killed 4,300 people. And ~2,991 people committed suicide.

Yes its going to spread, yes its going to kill people. But it's not the only thing doing it.

The unltime threat of the virus currently is the number of people that will be sick with it at the same time causing problems for the economy, businesses and services.

Of course not.

My point, as Kietonel perfectly summed up above, is that there are plenty of other things that are much more likely to get you than covid-19...but because there's no scaremongering press and social media about them, people don't panic about them.

You're going to have a heart attack if you keep up this level of anxiety, Tom.

Kidding lol x "

Haha. We usually get through roughly 20 a week so I'm saying 2 weeks worth plus a bit.

Blueberry wheats, weetabix, crunchy nut clusters, cinnamon things, multigrain stuff, muesli can't think of any others. I suppose I should get some ll milk in to. Didn't think of that.

This is serious.

"I feel we have gone off track,

New point, so what would you do if the uk became a coronavirus outbreak hotspot?

I would follow the guidelines given

I would also make sure my freezer is full and I have at least 50 boxes of cereal in the cupboard. And plenty of crisps.

What cereal we talking though? That's the crucial part.. a poor choice may land you handed over to the virus

Oh very serious, the milks a major factor, although I was made to use water on numerous occasions as a kids when times were tough, never getting subjected to that terror again! Lol

I am watching this closely

We are all doomed. I’d start compiling a ‘must shag before I die’ list if I were you

"16.6 million people, 17 (and a dog) diagnosed with Covid-19 virus in the UK so far.

At last estimate, around 990 people are diagnosed with cancer every day in the UK.

What do you reckon we should do about that, Tom? Time for people's to wake up, perhaps?

You are right.. why are we closing borders ?"

weren't aware we had closed any borders

You find everything concerning, I'm more worried about you blindly believing crappy media stories but only if they suit your agenda.
