The Transit van - it’s been around for over fifty years. A real workhorse of course so they don't tend to last too long. Occasionally see a real oldie, I spotted one must have been 30 years old the other day.

Ironically I used to have an 1986 SWB it was brilliant, did more miles than I can think in it, the spedo broke but apart from that it was mega reliable

Scunthorpe

I first had sex with Anita in the back of an old mark-2, it was a 1.6 petrol and had been hand painted in midnight blue hamerite.

I've had everyone from the smiley up to my current transit.

I've never had a problem with any of them.

duel mass fly wheel went on my 56 plate with 56k on got that done got to 90k turbo went mechanic said van wants scrapping as the engine was completely knackered although the face lift models drove better reliability wise shocking and I know a few who used to have transits all the time have now gone to mercs and they all had the same problems I had not sure about the latest generation look smart but most vans do now

I'm surprised to hear that. Me and mates have never had a problem with any ford transit.

Other vans yes.. But maybe we have had a lucky run with the transits.

I know in the old days they were known for rusting. The latest generation is a good van but smaller inside than the old one.

Near Wells

I've had 3 transit vans in my life and kept them for a while.

The only issue was a new gear box on one of them, very expensive at the time. I stopped buying Transits because they rusted quite early in their life and Mot's became a pain.
