this, fair play to him for sorting his life out, but to make him a hero is wrong, most people dont know the back story, he was a massive fuck up, and yes hes turned the courner and fair play to him, but other sportsmen and women dont get that chance, right or wrong, and to the , above, i agree, at best an ok boxer, but not one of the greats

Ok so he has had a dubious past in many ways .

I watched the documentaries about him and he is always mentally on the edge of another breakdown.

But to say hes an average boxer is wrong , he is a superb boxer and its impossible to know how he would of fared against the greats .

For me , if he beats Wilder again and then AJ , he will go down ( rightly ) as a boxing great .

He said a few things out of line but as he's admitted (and apologised) since they were the ramblings of a mentally disturbed person going through a challenging time.

I don't think people should get a knighthood for being good at their sport but he is a great ambassador for mental health.

And he would have given Lennox a lot of problems in the ring.

Probably was said sarcastically but not exactly role model type advice. Sure he can be the heavyweight champion & all that jazz but lets not throw Fury on the honours list for fucking up his own life then getting it back on track when people do that everywhere everyday! He’s just a big dude who spent half of that fight leaning all over smaller dude.

Dwain Chambers might disagree with that. Told he'd never represent the UK again. Also wasn't cocaine nicknamed marching powder because of its effects. I'd say that was performance enhancing.

I'm mostly indifferent to it all - though knighthood is certainly pushing it. Though it's a meaningless title anyway.

However they are not just "some stupid remarks" he has made, regardless of an apology. His PR team (yes he has one) will have told him to do so, regardless of how he now feels about those subjects.

Nobody should be forever condemned about things they have said in the post so long as their views on it have changed. But it should never be forgotten or excused that it was said. An apology does not change that at one time they did agree with what they said.

Opinions should be welcomed but consequences of certain ones should always be in place.

What ever you may think of him. One of the best technical heavy weight boxers this country has ever produced. He has fought and beaten every man put in front of him and not shyed away from anyone. He has also created a lot more interest in boxing, at a time when things were getting dull.

Will AJ fight him ? I hope so.

Does he warrant a knighthood..no.

Best technical boxers he isn’t, he’s just a big guy who wears people out leaning on them then throwing his big arms at them, he did Klitschko the same way just didn’t KO him. He’ll prob do the same to AJ unless AJ can keep him away with the jab.

Ok...but not sure what fights you have been watching and what pundits you listen to. Best technical HEAVYWEIGHT .. he's been schooled in boxing from the age of 6 by pro fighters. This is not some playground bully or pub carpark slugger. If you watched his fight on Saturday, you will have seen a man who boxed his way to victory.

Typical British mentality the guy is a winner let s be proud of him , the Americans can’t get enough of the big man because he is the best and also has a sense of humour, also huge respect to him for saying out loud his beliefs!

Long live the gypsy king !

Britain hates a winner they d rather support a loser like Bruno or the new Bruno Anthony Joshua

Again not sure what fight you watched. Fury had 1 point, not points deducted for striking a punch after the referee had given instructions to break. I appreciate you are not a fan but judge by what you see and maybe not by what you want to see. Fury is the best heavyweight boxer that there is at the moment. You may not like that but that's a fact. Wilder is a brawler not a boxer but has been credited with the hardest punching power in the past 20 years and that makes him dangerous. Fury took all that Wilder had. Could AJ have done the same...after watching him fight Ruiz ...I don't think so.

No, Fury shouldn’t be knighted. I see no reason to make this man a hero.

He stopped doing what he shouldn’t have been doing, not that hard.

He got up off his arse and lost a bunch of weight....people do that all the time.

That being said, he deserves credit for his footwork. A man that weighs what he does shouldn’t be able to skip and dance for 36 minutes.

Hopefully he comes through wilder 3 unscathed and Eddie doesn’t stop AJ and Fury getting in the ring.

AJ has already got the better of Fury in a sparring session as an amateur. Be interesting to see them go at it for all the belts.

"Harvey Weinstein was given a CBE so why not Tyson fury?"

Maybe because the media painted him as a monster in his early days.

Tyson cited verses from the Bible and the media played it against him.

There is an interview on YouTube where Tyson is grilled about it by Jeremy vine and two other guests and Tyson owns them all.

It's a shame that not more people recognise his achievements.

Why? For beating the shit out of people with his fists until they drop?

I've never understood boxing. The whole purpose is to beat an opponent to the ground causing brain trauma and in some cases death or permanent a brain injury.

No doubt he's fucking minted. There are others more deserving of a knighthood that do good work selflessly for little money and no acknowledgment.

I know the gloves are checked by the boxing commission before a boxer puts them on and they watch them going on. The gloves are also checked again by the ref and again after the fight is over.

"I think it's pretty sick to hold anything someone suffering from mental illness says against them. Especially if they've apologised. "

It’s not very woke. You see people championing forgiveness on here say in the case of the Begum lady.

But a mentally ill man says some hurty words and then tries to live his best life also apologising then let’s burn him with fire!

Hypocrisy.

I don't whether he's a reformed character or whether it's a marketing ploy, but I do agree if he has apologised them give him the benefit of the doubt. His he such it a bastard, I have no idea and I don't think many people on here know him well enough to say and if you do, then have the guts not to hide behind a made up name.

My grouse with him is the use of nandrolone. I don't think any sports person should be allowed back into their sport when they have been found using peds.

"An average boxer in a time of poor heavyweights..Lennox Lewis in his prime would have embarrassed him... but his family are or should be secure financially for life... so good on him."

Plenty of good boxers been and gone, good luck to him, hell of a fighter and dealing with his demons, which is something else, especially coming back to take the crown, I give this man total respect as a good friend of mine has recently took his own life trying to deal with his

Agreed. Until a ban is a ban for life you won't stop it.

Apologised because they were publicly caught-out a number of times, or because they genuinely changed their views over time?

I missed the calls for fire. Violence is more his thing than mine.

And, "hurty words"?!

I say neither. He said he apologised if he hurt anyone and not for what he said. All he did was repeat verses from the Bible.

The media love to break celebrities down and make things sound much worse than they are.

You are a bi couple and you have obviously took it all to heart.

After watching one of the programs on tv recently... he was getting ready for his wife joining him... saying how he felt 16 again. So excited to see her. How much he loves her... I just thought... 'wow! To have someone love you THAT much, to be open and to let the world know how much he loves you and how much you mean to him'. She is a lucky lady.

I don't think the phrase "freaks of nature" appears in the Bible?

And I'm not sure my being bi is relevant. I object to racist abuse of black people even though I'm white.

You really think the media made what he said - repeatedly and consistently - sound worse than it was? He'd hang his sister?!

Exactly. Many are micro-dosing nowadays anyway.

I saw that interview when his uncle interviewed him and I thought it was done tounge in cheek.. He even called himself a freak of nature and I doubt he'd hang his sister lol.
