Somewhere In The Ether…

As it says on the tin; List your personal favourite vocalists in the above genre

Extra bonus points available for anyone who lists and sings the praises of criminally underrated singers out there such as Joe Lynn Turner who has fronted a good number of big acts, from Rainbow to Deep Purple and even (briefly) for Yngwie Malmsteen with his superb vocal skills.

Off you go good folks

Oh my god, I could go on at great length on this topic. I have so many favourites and listing them all would probably bore everyone to death, but my top 10 (in no particular order) would probably be:

Floor Jansen (Nightwish)

Maria Brink (In This Moment)

Damian Wilson (ex Threshold)

Roy Khan (ex Kamelot)

Zaher Zorgati (Myrath)

Tom Englund (Evergrey)

Jake E (Cyhra, ex Amaranthe)

Jonas Renkse (Katatonia)

Marcela Bovio (ex Stream of Passion)

Amanda Somerville (Trillium)

Excuse you, need to be rude! I know all about Tarja thank you, having seen her live three times and going again next month. I’m talking about Floor as an all round vocalist, she is probably the most complete package out there, man or woman. Try checking out the clips from Beste Zanger on Youtube, or her stuff with ReVamp and Northward. Tarja, great as she is, has only had one style for most of her career and it’s only on her new album that she’s dropped the operatic style on some tracks.

Another criminally underrated singer: Messiah Marcolin who sang with Doom Metallers, Candlemass.

Also, for vocal range, King Diamond and Eric Adams (although the latter has admitted that he’s lost an octave range or two as he’s gotten older)

"Oh my god, I could go on at great length on this topic. I have so many favourites and listing them all would probably bore everyone to death, but my top 10 (in no particular order) would probably be:

Floor Jansen (Nightwish)

Maria Brink (In This Moment)

Damian Wilson (ex Threshold)

Roy Khan (ex Kamelot)

Zaher Zorgati (Myrath)

Tom Englund (Evergrey)

Jake E (Cyhra, ex Amaranthe)

Jonas Renkse (Katatonia)

Marcela Bovio (ex Stream of Passion)

Amanda Somerville (Trillium)

Looks like someone forgot tarja got nightwish that far lol

Also

Halestorm

Excuse you, need to be rude! I know all about Tarja thank you, having seen her live three times and going again next month. I’m talking about Floor as an all round vocalist, she is probably the most complete package out there, man or woman. Try checking out the clips from Beste Zanger on Youtube, or her stuff with ReVamp and Northward. Tarja, great as she is, has only had one style for most of her career and it’s only on her new album that she’s dropped the operatic style on some tracks.

Wasnt being rude as being rude is forgetting within temptation lol im never rude but thanks lol "

Jeez. The question was about personal favourite singers, not about bands or who other people think we should like Sharon takes 5 or 6 songs to warm up which knocks her off my favourites list.

"As it says on the tin; List your personal favourite vocalists in the above genre

Extra bonus points available for anyone who lists and sings the praises of criminally underrated singers out there such as Joe Lynn Turner who has fronted a good number of big acts, from Rainbow to Deep Purple and even (briefly) for Yngwie Malmsteen with his superb vocal skills.

Off you go good folks "

For me, Ian Gillan and Robert Plant

"Jim Morrison"

I really like the Doors but Jim wasn't much of a singer, he was off his face most of the time.

They are all a mixed bag and it's not necessary all about vocal.

If I had to:

Sebastian Bach

Dio

Freddie Mercury

Brian Johnson

Best Rock/Metal voice (male) would have to be Roger Daltrey in the early 1970s - the rest are just pale imitators.
