"1917 - not sure "enjoyed" is the right word but would certainly recommend it - cinematography was awesome, very moving too" I’d say that basically sums up how I felt also. I wouldn’t buy it and probably wouldn’t watch it again but I’m glad I watched it at least once.

I'd watch it again - the hesitation of using "enjoyed" was more around the subject matter and there are some films that "enjoyed" just doesn't seem right (Schindlers List being a good example)

"1917. Only film I have ever been where there wasn’t a peep from the audience and then when it ended ever one left in pretty much total silence. Fantastic film. " Same happened when I saw it - normally as soon as the credits start people start heading for the door - was a good few minutes before anyone did after that

Same happened when I saw it - normally as soon as the credits start people start heading for the door - was a good few minutes before anyone did after that " I haven't seen 1917, but the effects on the audience you describe after its end, reminds me of an identical scene at the end of another film. It was A Star is Born, with Barbara Streisand & Kris Kristofferson, in the 1970's. The film finishes with her powerful singing some song, building to a crescendo and as her last notes fade away, the screen goes blank, then the credits roll. Silence! No-one in the packed auditorium moved even as the lights came on. But plenty of people were dabbing their eyes, including many guys, each claiming, "got something in my eye!"

Kind of goes with the no one meets weekend thread Thoroughly enjoyed it, so would recommend it, nothing what I expected and no it is not a remake as I had expected it to be " Supposed to be very good.
