The smell of a man....

....or woman? I've (N) been told that I'm a bit weird because I put a lot of value into what a guy smells like. And I mean the natural smell, not aftershaves etc. My husband smells absolutely divine and when he used to work away, I'd sleep with one of his jumpers or his dressing gown so I'd have his smell there. My "it's complicated" fwb found it odd when I said his smell was attractive...

So, am I a weirdo, or do others find themselves attracted by the natural smell of a guy (or a woman, but have no preference in that regard myself)?

No you aren't strange. I love the natural smell of a bloke I am close to who is obviously clean (if that makes sense?).

No you are not weird. It's science that attracts person to person. Pheromones. LOVE is a chemical attraction. It's the driving part of the brain. It's very little to do with emotion and faces as some people think.

I'm a biologist so the pheromones thing and science behind it fascinates me. It's just a few comments and conversations with others that got me wondering how many other people are attracted significantly by smell? Intriguing in my view, but I am a geek

Not weird at all... Evolution hardwired us to produce and respond to pheromones.... These are masked by odour producing bacteria when we are dirty or by heavy perfume or aftershave... Incidentally this is part of the reason women are especially attractive during ovulation and pregnancy their body is trying extra hard to attract a partner in the first instance, and to keep their partner in the second..... Sorry I collect useless information....

Don't feel silly! Just because I'm a bio geek doesn't mean I know everything and I like discussing such things anyway. We're a geeky pair, we'd each say the other is sexy too

You're not weird at all. When I'm really attracted to/care about someone the natural smell of them is intoxicating, far better than any man made fragrance. It's an odd combination of comforting and arousing.

I met an absolutely beautiful man once, with the most incredible voice, hair, arms, wonderful hands etc etc buuut I couldn't get past the fact that he smelled like wet goat to me and I didn't find him sexually attractive at all me. My friends were swooning over him but he stayed as wet goat man for me.

I don’t consciously notice someone’s smell most of the time, but when I’ve met someone a few times it’s like I can get their scent from ten feet away and it’s sexy as hell

One man ... I could smell him before getting up the stairs. It was the most gorgeous aftershave (yes I know this is about natural smells)

It was intoxicating

While stood hugging my box of Budweiser in the coop last night I felt the presence of someone approaching me from behind in the cue then this smell, this glorious smell wafted past my nose. I almost turned to ask her which perfume she was wearing as I loved it but stopped when I realised that was probably a creepy thing to do.

In short yes a smell can turn my head

I've only ever came across this once, 46 years ago.

It was my first indulgence into full penetrative sex, the local bike lol. But there was this smell about her, a natural aroma, it was lovely.

To this day, in my twilight years, that smell, albeit rarely, suddenly appears, I think of her, and the times we shared. And then it's gone.

I wear a slight dash of my favourite aftershave all the time so most of my stuff smells like Terre D’hermes

I have a habit of inhaling through my nose when I walk past a woman I find attractive, to catch her scent...It’s extremely important my partner smells good to me. Not weird at all but if it is I can live with that

This might sound very weird but I love smelling mens body hair, like I like getting my nose all up in their armpits or pubes and taking in the smell, not BO, but that manly musky smell

aha...I know exactly what you mean...I recall getting really turned on by an armpit once..

If anyone can recommend a decent male pheromone, not ridiculously expensive like the sex shops sell...which are often not very good either ..let me know

No I don’t think you’re weird in the slightest. I ask men who I’m going to meet not to have any chemicals on their skin. Need to smell them to see if we’re compatible and this often is one of the deciding factors in my decision whether to meet them again or not

Glad it's not just me then! I'd agree with preferring to smell their natural smell without perfumery to mask it. I don't particularly like aftershaves or other scents on men (again, maybe odd?!)

Fellas..With a clean fresh hanky put small spray of good quality aftershave and put it under your clean armpit for ten mins then use any excuse to have your lady friend use it ...wipe her cheek or chin or some such excuse as the deadly combination of after shave and your natural scent will have a big impact....

I much prefer natural man smell to aftershave.

Especially when you nuzzle (is that even a word) when they're warm.

I like Mr N's natural smell. I worked with a woman who was married to a miller and the smell of flour turned her on because her husband came home smelling of it every day.

Pheromones are definitely a thing & I would agree with the cycle/hornyness correlation. I'm definitely worse the week before as if it's a last ditch attempt by my body to attract a "mate".

I much prefer a natural smell, however there is one scent, that few men wear...it'll always give me that momentary pause to enjoy..I have no idea what it is though.

Its been interesting to read how many people like a nice, natural smell rather than an artificial scent. And clearly I'm not weird (well, not on this basis, anyway )

But in Creeds defence it is the best after shave by a country mile. But at £280 a bottle it should be

Anither weirdo smeller here! I think it's a natural instinct. I've been attracted to and turned off by smell alone, though it took me a while to work out what as off or so hot about it at the time.
