Somewhere In The Ether…

I remember well the day when I tried my first ever pickled egg.

Indeed, it was even more memorable than my first Werther’s Original which my kindly faced grandfather gave to me as is apparently a contractual obligation according to the adverts.....

Pickled onions.....I always make a bee line for those buggers whenever they’re on offer. Pickled garlic is lovely to - but by gum, don’t kiss anyone immediately afterwards....

Love them, especially in a packet of ready salted crisps. Used to sell them in my old local - I dread to think how long they were there for though

Love most things pickled: beetroot, onions, gerkins, chillies. Waitrose do a jar of onions mixed with chopped chillies - yum!

A friend of mine used to give me jars of pickled chillies. when I had eaten them I used the jar of left over vinegar to pickle my eggs and the result was a pickled egg with bite. Delicious

Pickled eggs are the bees..... I prefer to make my own though because they do them in white vinegar in the shops and I like malt and seeing the outside go brown.......

I wasn't convinced until I tried pickled Quail eggs, they're a lot smaller & I was shocked that I enjoyed them but I love anything pickled.

I know someone who makes pickled chicken, raw chicken fermented in vinegar for about a week.

They seem to be a thing of the past here! I remember when a lot of Pubs always had a massive jar of them. My Granny always kept some but think it was more for my Granda’s benefit when he came home from the pub
