It would depend entirely on a specific incident, and who or what was involved.

"So what makes a cowardly man in your eyes??"

Probably exactly the same thing that makes a woman cowardly I guess. Times have changed. For example would you think a it would be cowardly for a man not to join the armed forces during a time of war? But not a woman, even though woman are now in combat roles

But for me probably not being able to own up for your own mistakes or take responsibility

Lack of respect, no idea how to treat a partner as equals, controlling. Basically it being his way or no way.

I’ve recently had an encounter with a guy who’s behaviour I found cowardly

Personally, I think or cowardly man, or woman, is one who does not address their own challenges and responsibilities.

I don’t think it’s remotely gender specific.

Cowardly humans lie and avoid the truth to serve their selfish needs at the cost of others.

The exact same things that make a cowardly person Every single example that has been given can be reversed to whatever gender or sex is fitting, as they are not exclusive cowardly male traits.

Any person can be any of those things.

Agreed!

Though I will add to that, selfishness is not essentially cowardly.

There are a lot of unpleasant traits in this thread but I'm not sure they are cowardly - though I'd agree that they are often displayed by cowardly people.

Being brave is sometimes said to feel afraid of something but still face up to the challenge so surely cowardice is the opposite - not facing our even admitting or fears. Worse still, blaming others for them.

I think the controlling of others is a behaviour *some* cowardly people use to boost their ego so they don't have to confront their own fears.

You can add coward to a lot of things, a former operations manager where I work would never give you the go ahead on anything by email, he'd always do it verbally so if it went wrong or was questioned by higher up he could deny it and leave you in the shit.
