I've had long term non fab friends with benefits for 26 years and yes it definitely exists but the difference is mainly friends first and foremost ... and that means no difference to any other friendship. I personally wouldn't do a fab type fwb prefer to know those as bwf ( benefits with friends ) as it's purely built on sex first which means that it's more likely to end quicker or be replaced in my opinion.

I had a FWB that I met regularly, we had lovely nights in and it only ended 1.5 year later because he met someone who he wanted to have a “normal” relationship with and didn’t want to cheat on her. It's real. But it depends on your approach and the set up.

I'm polyamorous so each connection requires something different. The thing that makes it work is that everything is open to discussion, flux, ownership of feelings. Love can be part of it or not .. But it doesn't mean it has to be a problem. Unless there is a demand for exclusivity or an imposition of expectation which isn't reciprocated.

Sex brings intimacy. How you choose to deal with it is the key.

It can be fraught with involvement but it's totally possible, if you strictly watch for any signs and end it straight away, even though your will miss it and the ease it brings to your life.

Don't expect people to remain the same, whether over months or years. Subtle shifts can nudge someone to a different perspective to yours. I've enjoyed the pleasure of a few men for a few years.

Yeah unfortunately many don't get the difference between emotional attachment and falling in love... Hence so many crappy relationships

... Like I said, choose carefully lol... I chose someone I knew would never want to be with me romantically but would still love me enough for the sex to be great... There still needs to be a certain amount of loving eachother, for me.

I think its a bit of an illusion and works a lot less of the time than it would seem, hence all the people looking and not finding or not holding onto. It seems a bit of a half measure for at least one half of the fwb that they take just for the good bits. That is my massively cynical take on it, I also think it can work, but takes brutal honesty at all times from both sides, with a tinge of heartache thrown in with all the good bits.

It is. I have/had one and we're still friends. Unfortunately I can get rather fixated on them... they're the only one who I would happily trust with nudes and doing the do.

Beginning to move on and try finding things but it's not easy when your walls are on a par with those great ones of China *and* made of barbed-wire Kevlar **and** you believe in others proving their worth.

I've been there before. Lay the ground rules early on. Both agree but after a few meets, things change! Feelings become apparent and it gets harder to walk away. Someone always ends up getting hurt somewhere down the line.

I’ve had FwBs.....feelings came into it with a couple of them (from their side, not mine). Another was a married swinger, so that worked out fine.

It’s about finding someone with the same ideals in that respect, or someone who is playing with consent. It’s not easy, but it is possible.

I think at one point I would have struggled with a FWB relationship as I'm a big softie who was trusting and caring and developed feelings for people easily. Yet since losing my best friend and soul mate it's not a problem sex and friendship even combined could not come close to what we had I couldn't and wiukdbt want to get that sort of connection with anyone ever again. She still has my heart and always will. But for now my body can still being fun to someone and u can still be a good friend so FWB I'd easy for me
