Childhood film that affected you?

I’ll start with tremors, still get a bit wary if I’m walking too far off the concrete.

Another film which I can’t remember the title, shouldn’t have watched it but still to this day has ruined the way I sleep.

Was a little fucking creature thing and it was in the boys bedroom at night and would suck his breath out of his nose and mouth, the boys cat used to save the day and this creature ended up killing the family bird and the poor cat had the blame. Still can’t sleep on my back to this day cos of that film.

Many won't remember this but they made a feature length film of the Magic Roundabout called "Dougal and the blue cat", now that was some weird shit. Every kid that watched it must have been traumatised and the people that made it must have been partaking of a big bag of various hallucinogenic substances

When I was about 9 I saw a film called The Burning. It was the first time I had ever seen a slasher movie and I didn't know that films like that even existed. The imagery stayed with me for many years, especially a particular scene of a massacre on a raft. It was horrible.

Even though now I can see it as a bit cheesy and clearly fake, I still can't understand why anybody would want to see anything like that.

There was a film when I was in primary school called "the gate"

Freaked me the fuck out and there's one Scritti Politti song that takes me right back to that wide eyed kid, my sister had the fucker on repeat whilst I was trying to convince myself I wasn't about to get sucked into some dark evil place whilst falling asleep

Jaws - I was 8, the next day snorkelling (while my Uncle went spear fishing) off the coast of Adelaide, waiting to get back in the boat got circled by a shark, it was only little still needed a change of shorts!

Not really from my childhood or a film. But for some reason a couple of episodes of the original Black Mirror has affected me. Mostly the 'Fifteen Million Merits" episode where they have to pedal the bikes and the love interest takes the offer to do porn. Dunno why but that episode is stuck in my mind

When I (her) was too young for horrors I watched Salems Lot and American werewolf in London. These have put me off being able to watch horrors as an adult. I just find stuff like that too frightening and refuse to watch them.

Salems Lot,the scene where the kid is in bed and his dead friend appears through the fog outside and starts tapping on the window and asking to be let in, scared the crap out of me as a kid and I still won't leave the curtains open at night

Also remember seeing the bit on Robocop when Murphy gets brutally murdered at the beginning which even now is a shocking scene, and I was around 8 years old, that stuck with me for a long time.

The film where the otter is is killed by the guy with the spade is "ring of bright water"

I've been meaning to go hiking in scotland in the filming locations, but haven't got round it. It's a very philosophical film, that one, a classic.

I remember renting robocop on vhs for 12th birthday with a few friends, super violent film, but the satire in it is amazing.

-It's a shame that the sequels were atrocious.

There's a series called "V"

It came out in the 80s, it was an allegory of the events that lead up to world war 2.

It was about aliens visiting the earth, pretending that they were peaceful, but the show became increasingly more & more sinister.

-Very well done & acted.
